If you didn't have them retaining on Risto, maybe the Flyers would do that. It would take an insane return for Philly to retain 3+ years for any player. In addition, if they really liked Sokolov or Thomson they could have claimed them earlier in the season.

I was trying to figure this one out as well. Lassi and the Russian were on waivers earlier this year, so basically for 3 more years all you get is Brannstrom a 3rd pairing d man? After giving up a #1 & #2 for Risto. Just keep him hes been good for us in his role or you need a better package.
