Description

My 1-3 year forecast for the Leafs…
-In the lineup means NHL guy now and forever
-Scratch = On the way to the bigs
-IR = NHL player but for other team, doesn't fit in for whatever reason including cap space
-LTIR = Career AHLer or long shot NHLer or career done
-Taxi Squad = Filler depth...may play 50 to 100 NHL games
-Not there = not there now and never

Not as bad as it looks, the Leafs can fill out the roster...the needs are obvious and attainable!

I am on the record for saying I think the team will be more of a cup contender next year and beyond...we shall see...

People (umm Leaf FANatics will ask so...
Tavares retires after his contract is up and gets a desk job with the org
Marner has shown he can be a #1 guy on many teams, and will become that in July 2024, probably Detroit or Buffalo or ya OTTAWA!!!

To make TK work, you’d need $9MM+ in cap space, which is what the Philly analysts are projecting. That said, with the money the core 4 are making, I doubt it happens/makes sense. Would need 1) PHI to let TK walk, and 2) TOR to let Tavares/Marner go.

EDIT Konecny would be loved and I think be a great guy for Matthews?
