I don't think splurging on ageing free agents is even remotely a good idea for a team that wouldn't even make the playoffs with them either way.

what do those 3 teams have in common outside of being non traditional hockey markets?

Exactly...that was my point.

Nashville has no excuse not to be a consistent playoff team, just like the other non traditional markets can do it.
