Description
If the Pens sell off their 2 most valuable assets who are still somewhat expendable, they could build a very formidable roster next season. I know Reinhart is on a goal scoring heater right now, but even at this typical paces he would be an extremely worth while investment. So good at both ends of the ice and would flourish with Crosby. Duchene could probably be persuaded quite easily with this team looking poised for a pretty good shot at the Cup. Getting a vet like Talbot to backup the extremely solid Jarry would be a solid move as well.

Must've missed the memo where every ACGM team had to be uber-realistic, forgot about the "zero fun" policy that was just put into place. My bad.

    "All that"

    - Late 1st
    - Guy who obvious doesn't fit in Dallas and needs a change of scenery
    - Guy who cleared waivers and has no discernable role in Dallas

Yep, definitely asking for way too much here. I'll concede that a 1st may be a little too much, but I'm sure the Pens would take a 2nd and a 4th or something like that. It's really not that egregious.

Certainly fair, but I think getting Guentzel would be massive for the Golden Knights, and they can easily get his re-signed. It would be a long term buy and would keep the team extremely competitive for the next few years. Could bump Korzcak down to a lesser valued guy like Denisenko, but I'd expect Brisson to be a must

Yeah … you can have fun while also being remotely realistic or maybe you thought this made sense which makes more sense lol. My bad for busting the bubble

I mean I don't think there's anything here that is too egregious. I could hear an argument about the trade values being off, but I think Reinhart and Pittsburgh actually make a ton of sense. Getting another vet who can produce like Duchene would be savvy. There are a lot of moving parts sure, but Dubas loves to get crazy. Look how much that guy got up to last offseason, and he'd be entering this offseason with yet another 19m to spend. He's a wild dude with wild ideas. I guess we shall see

    1) Why not just resign Guentzel? He’s better the Reinhart and likely will be cheaper. His price is 8.5-9m. Reinhart on the open market gets 10m. Hes on pace for 97 points and 55 goals. Teams are going to overpay for him.

    2) Duchene will cost you way more than that and if he signs that cheap he’ll likely just stay in Dallas

    3) Smith gets you maybe 2nd.

    4) bottom 6 is trash and you should use try to find a better balance there. Sign players like Novak to a 4x4. Try to flip Smith for a 2nd then use that second to get Roberson or Wahlstrom.

You move Guentzel only if you can get something to help you win now. Try oilers. Do Hollaway Kane 1st and a 3rd. Kane fills in Guentzel spot Holloway is a cheap player that will fill in nicely and you can use the draft capitals to trade for something nice 😊

All fair points, I'm just postulating what I would do if I were Kyle Dubas. I genuinely think Brission could help the Pens now, while Korzcak is the future piece. I do think a 1st in that Stars trade is a little steep, but I could see it going either way. Regardless, the money works and I like the fit. 2.5m for ~40 points even in a down year would be very valuable for the Stars. I feel like at this point in Duchene's career, the Cup is the ultimate goal. 2 years in Pittsburgh with Crosby would massively increase his odds of getting that ever elusive Stanley Cup. Also, there is still 1.5m left over here, so if the Pens really want Reinhart, they can get him. I just really like the fit and think Reinhart's defense make him the more favorable player between he and Guentzel.

I think the best way of navigating this retool would be getting young NHL ready players, and not older guys in addition to prospects. Guys like Brisson don't come around very often, and I think he'd be fantastic in the Steel City. I'd also like to see who Dubas can draft with his picks rather than who he can acquire for the picks.

Even as someone who doesn't particularly care about the Pens, the fact we are able to have this discussion about completely different ideas makes me that much more excited to see what the Pens do. Dubas could really do something special
