What this is basically doing what the pittsburgh penguins have been doing. Separating their stars. Stacking lines can be great yes but by spreading it out, you have three very talented lines. This is because the stars have three very good centers (Seguin Hanzal Spezza). So if you play nashville and they throw out ekholm/subban vs the seguin line and josi/ellis vs the benn line than you have their third pair playing against maybe radulov and hanzal. pittsburgh has won back to back cups doing this and its a big reason why they did that.

crosby makes players around him much better, so that is why he plays with guys like sheary rust kunitz and players like that. Same goes with malkin. When Kessel and Malkin played together, sometimes theyd get mad at each other. I really think that by doing what the pens have done in the past two years, it woud make the stars maybe the most dangerous team in the west.
