1. Not sure why Liljegren would sign for that when his buddy in WSH just signed for 4.6 and longer term.
2. Also why would Dewar sign for a penny less than McMann when he's a relied upon PKer on this team, and has scored more than 10 goals.

Is Lily's buddy also an RFA who seems allergic to consistency? I would rather trade him in the off season than sign him for more. He will be on the 2nd pair if they only sign one major right shot D man like Roy or Pesce or DeMelo (or even Walker), and 3rd pair if they were to sign two of the three.

Again, McMann was a UFA and Dewar is an RFA

lily and sandman both expire RFAs. lily had an injury that put him on the shelf, and despite missing 12 more games than Sandin, has put up identical scoring stats, while having a better +/- (which i dont put a lot of stock into since its WSH).

good point made about mcmann being a ufa, ill concede that.

Seems like Washington overpaid, then. Lily seems fine as a third pair guy, but unless he takes a big step during these playoffs, they need major free agent signings on the blue line that do not leave room for him to get a big raise. And don't expiring RFAs mean that the R matters one last time? I would be surprised if he could get more in arbitration...

AAV goes up along with contract length (for RFAs). Hard to estimate how much an RFA like Lilly would make. Don't see any reason why this isn't a reasonable price, though. It makes the most sense for the team. If he doesn't want to sign it, then we'll just trade him. But it's certainly not completely off from reality. Lilly has struggled to hold a spot in the top-4 pretty much up until this season, and the only reason he probably hasn't lost that spot is due to injuries and this blueline being weak as hell. Wouldn't be surprised to see him on the 3rd pair (again) come playoff time.
