- Whole coaching staff should be gone. 1 for 1 billion on the powerplay in the playoffs is unacceptable, and sure you can blame some of it on the players, but the coaches didn't even try a change. This lost them the series, not Marner, not goaltending, the powerplay did. The drop pass to a lob pass to the side boards is the most readable powerplay entry I've ever seen, and needs a change.
- Kampf and Jarnkrok are solid depth pieces, but not for Toronto. Cap is too tight next year, and they have players who can fill there roles. If they can get out of them without giving up assets, its a win.
- I think there will be mutual interest from both sides in getting a Domi deal done, but to get him at a good price, will have to come with term. He fit well, loves the team, fans love him, don't let him walk like Hymen did (Not saying Domi bout to drop 55 goals, but would be a fair resigning)
- Like Domi, Bertuzzi was great for the leafs. Not sure if mutual interest in getting him resigned is there, but if there is id do it in a heartbeat. If its not Bert, replace him with a guy of is playstyle and caliber, for around this price.
- Not sure if they are ready, but a kid line of Knies, Minten and Cowen would be fun to watch, and cheap on the cap. If they aren't ready to make the jump, maybe reconsider the jarnkrok trade, or try and get another solid depth player for cheap in free agency.
- Defense for the leafs in the playoffs was honestly amazing. Only guy that didn't perform was liligren, arguably Reilly but he isn't going anywhere nor would i want him to. Try and find a fit for lily to get a fresh start. Would love to resign eddy, was an awesome fit for them, and with there remaining cap go after Chris Tanev. Hometown guy, amazing defensive game with some offence. Would love to see how he fits on the team.
- For goaltending, that's where it gets really tough. I think Woll is ready and good enough to be a starter, but injuries hold him back. Not a lot of goalies on the Free agency market this year either which doesn't help, so maybe a trade is the best option for them here. That being said I'm just putting a placeholder here for a 3 mill solid backup goalie. Need to get someone for a good price, but can also hold the fort if called upon.
- To sum it up, i think this is BEST case scenario. Who knows with all the Marner talk maybe hes traded and they go a completely different direction. Personally I think you suck it up and keep him, wait for the cap to rise and resign him, but thats just me. We shall see.
Go Leafs Go
Don't know how they are meaningfully better with this roster and I think it is far from best case scenario
TBH they aren't better, but in 25-26, the cap should be around 92 mill. Get through next year, and improve after that. Don't think trading Marner at 26 years old for a bucket of pucks is the right way to go, but maybe they do. Time will tell this is just a opinion.

You may be right but I also think that the "bags of pucks" he could net would be more valuable than just letting him walk next offseason. Because I think this team is done with him, especially ownership at MLSE and I don't think he'll get an extension unless its for less than his current deal.

Agree with you on that, something is better then nothing. I think they will almost certainly dig around in possible trades, but I also can't see them parting ways with him in a trade unless they can get a fair return. They talk about trading one of these guys every year, then it never happens, i doubt they do it the year they wont get a dime in return for one of them. Most I would give him is 11.5 matching Nylander, but its too much for what he brings in the playoffs.

Totally agree. My honest prediction is that they'll inform Marner that they are looking to part ways after the draft and they'll ask if he'd be willing to waive. If he says yes which I think he would because if not his year next year will be miserable, I would bet the Leafs give his agent the ability to negotiate extension with teams so that he can essentially choose his destination. Only downside is obviously that full value will not be reached but if he comes with an extension the return will be large enough that it likely won't matter. I would guess they look for a comparable deal to Tkatchuk and although they likely lose the trade in value, they would probably welcome the change and the players they get in return.
