What should happen at the draft

Created by: Habsfansince73
Team: 2024-25 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2024
Published: May 15, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
There are a lot of minor leaguers who will be signed because the Laval team needs a roster.
I see the Habs picking either Cayden Linstrom if he's available or Tij Iginla at the 5th spot and Cole Hutson. Need scorers and grit.
If some team bites on Matheson for a 1st then that would be amazing but chances are Habs won't be trading anyone during the draft.

What Montreal does will be very dependent on what Chicago and Columbus do, we need either one or both of them to need defensemen more than forwards. I think our choice will go: Demidov-->Lindstrom-->(Your pick of Catton or Iginla).
I would love to draft every Hutson brother, but we've likely gotten our guy in Hutson and aren't going to be going for Cole when we have other needs, take the Winnipeg pick and get another forward or use it as the main piece to trade up, for example if a Beckett Sennecke is projected to go in the mid-late teens and we are interested in him.
Definitely possible that Montreal does trade players during the draft, Harris or Struble being the names that come to mind. If we end up trading Matheson then we'll be keeping/extending Savard, nothing wrong with that just a decision that has to be kept in mind when decided to trade 1 of our only 2 vets at D.
