What's interesting is, I'm pretty sure Edmonton is interested in signing Franson which is great because he would be a great addition to any team but this team needs him. Signed Garteig after losing Ellis since Garteig was also a successful Goalie but was just put in ECHL because of Canucks prospect goalie depth, although he was called up to AHL as a result of injuries. I also think because Vanek is so great offensively and making players around him produce, he would be great with developing Edmonton rookies like Puljujarvi, Yamamoto or even McDavid or Draisaitl. I think it's important that I left 5 million in cap space as well because according to cap friendly, only 13 of their contracts make up 60 million in cap space in 18-19

doubt vanek and franson sign to not even be in the line-up/doubt Edmonton would want to sign those guys to not have them in the line-up

Your only leaving yourself with 6 million to resign Nurse, Benning, Maroon, Caggiula, and more after this season. Vanek feels like an unnecessary addition and Franson, I feel would only work on a 1 year deal.
