Shero couldn't rationalize giving up a 1st round pick for a 31 year old defenseman with 4 years left on a big contract. Does not fit well with the whole rebuild strategy that he has been selling to fans.

As desperate as NJ might be, they are in a rebuild and are okay with missing the playoffs again. If they were this desperate, a trade or free agent signing would've happened already. Shero is sitting and waiting for the right opportunity, he won't make a move just for the sake of making a move
