Spooner and Beleskey: Possible Odd Men Out

Created by: TopCornerShot

Description
I think this is what is likely to happen.

If I was in charge of making the lines I would be putting JFK on a 10 to 20 game stint in the AHL, which would give me time to trade Spooner out of his 3rd C spot. We also have swiss army knife Czarnik as well as slow footed Backes to cover if JFK gets hurt while playing 3rd C. No need to keep Spooner anymore with all the young talent playing at a reasonable level.

Grzelcyk will get the ice time Krug misses out on from injury. The rest of the defense is self explanatory.

Khudobin is almost a lock after McIntyre let up 2 soft goals tonight and appeared to lose his confidence after letting up the first goal.

All in all this looks like a promising season to come with more attacking and scoring.

Spooner would need to get us at least a combination of 2nd and 3rd rounders, but they should not trade him to a divisional rival. I think a team like washington would pay ofr him, since they lost Marcus Johansen, although they don't have many picks to work with.

Probably a 2nd Round Pick + Long Shot Prospect. Someone like Kurally who has an outside chance at some type of role in the NHL. That's the price if they decide to get aggressive about moving him and no longer want him around.

If they are intent on keeping him on the bench if this situation unfolds the way I have it and just keep him along for the ride knowing that injuries are a likely outcome, then it'd be a steeper price. Up to 2x 2nd round picks, like we got for Boychuk and like we paid for Brett Connolly. He's somewhere in between those 2 in terms of value, so it's not unreasonable to think he could land 2x 2nds if the right situation presents itself. That's just my take on the situation.

We really just re-signed him for precautionary reasons and to insure that we get something in return for him. No-one knows what we'll get for him yet, wether it's production on the ice or assets from another team in a trade.
