New And Improved
Karl Alzner and Adam McQuaid will never ever be in a leafs jersey. If they do i'll eat a sock. They do not match the team dubas wants to create, they dont move the puck well and their passes are grenades. Why block the path for liljegren, sandin, and rosen to play for those stay at home guys

TAMPA BAY WIN OR BUST - Cause Were Screwed Next Year
Alot of people said the caps were screwed when they lost alot of role players after going all in the year before they won. As long as you have the core pieces you'll have a shot at the cup, the rest is on your GM to compliment your core with pieces that work

Keeping Gardiner if Marleau Retires
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MG1986</b></div><div>I love how Leafs fan suddenly love Gardiner, because without him in the lineup, the Leafs have played worse. Jake Gardiner is not a good defensive player, and at this point in his career, that will not change. You don't give a guy $5 million for only offense, when he is one of 6, and suppose to be a top-4 in fact, defender whose main job it is to keep the puck out of our net. There's just too many sloppy defensive plays, miscues, turnovers, you name it. And besides, He is not accepting $5 million when the open market is bound to offer him a chance at more.</div></div>
Exactly haha, he's a huge piece to the team but lets not forget game 7 in boston last year... You could find a better defensive d man for cheaper and just replace his offensive talent with Sandin/Liljegren anyways so

If Binnington is true
If Binnington is legit, its huge for STL who IMO have kinda struggled to find consistency in the goaltending position and honestly its probably the position that cost them a cup run. Binnington also helped me win my fantasy hockey pool :)

Why the hell would the leafs want schenn as their 3rd line centre for that price tag when we can keep Kadri for way cheaper or just keep Nylander (who is way more valuable and younger) Makes no sense

They will, and 4 first rounders from an offersheet is worth more than that trade so. Leafs are fine lol

Leafs Roster Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>blowing_the_zone</b></div><div>This is one of the best Leafs AGMs that I've come across. And I think your description perfectly sums up where the leafs are right now. We're in good shape.
Like your take on how Dubas sees Willy as a core piece. Everything he's shared publicly on Nylander points to Dubas seeing him as a long term leaf - and likely riding shotgun to AM while Marner does the same with JT. Throw in the emergence of Rielly as a legit Norris contender and Freddy continuing to be steady, and that's a core that will compete for the cup at some point. Leaf Nation will continue to be angsty.. but, we really are in good shape..
Like your listing with the Marlies depth, and how Dubas values those guys and the development process. Couldn't agree more. I'd only add that Mason Marchment should maybe get a nod there too. He has some tools that the leafs lack. I could see him getting a look next year if he can stay healthy and continue to build on his last 2 seasons.
All in all, awesome stuff! And very timely, too.</div></div>
Thank you very much! We really are lol, even if we dont do anything in the playoffs this year, it'll take some time before the entire roster is filled out and Dubas makes his mark on this team. Really feel like we're headed in the right direction! And yeah lots of great marlies who could get a look ! Marchment always flies under the radar for me aha, so nice to finally have many great AHL players who actually can come in and compete for a spot rather than having a bunch of Tyler Biggs down there

He's a valuable piece to the yotes. Him coming back from injury is the reason they trades Weal away for Chaput. It would take like a solid prospect or a few seconds (maybeee a first) to pry him from Arizona IMO

Leafs Roster Thoughts
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DRshnuckels87</b></div><div>Its cool that some fanbases are doing this stuff
Nice board the only thing that i could see going wrong is nylander i would put him in the middle colum instead as if someone like edmonton or st.louis offers a good young d-man like klefbom or parayko i could see dubas trading him.
Nice team anyways</div></div>
Thank you! I do agree with that, i debated on having him in the middle column or not. Honestly though i think the trade buzz around him is created by the fans + media. Im just going off Leafs GM Dubas' comments and personality where i believe he sees Willy as a core piece and would look to trade a guy like Johnsson/Kapanen over him if he had too. I also think Dubas is higher on the marlies depth than most,(with Sandin, Liljegren being great prospects) this is why i dont see a trade for a big name d man like a Parayko but hockey is unpredictable sometimes !

2019-20 Revival
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rktkt66</b></div><div>Possibly - though there's an out if an NHL job opens. If he sees his path in Toronto blocked by Babcock and his only chance to get some NHL experience towards an eventual NHL head coaching job, he could look to accept an assistant's role as a stepping stone - the same way many inexperienced NHL coaches get their feet wet.
That said, since Gronborg also has no head coaching experience, he could become the assistant to Keefe at Botterill's request. Gronborg's experience in Europe makes sense with all of the Swedes the Sabres are building around and, like Keefe, he's an innovative thinker. Normally, the HC picks his assistants but the sense is that Botterill deferred to Housley picking his assistants and Payne and Hajt were each ineffective in their roles. In theory, it seems like Botterill would suggest assistants to his next HC.</div></div>
Yeah i definitely think Housley is gone, the sabres have too much talent to not be at least in a position like montreal. Keefe is gonna get a lot of looks at NHL jobs, but the same thing happened with Dubas before he was promoted. Idk i think maybe hte leafs see Keefe as a successor to Babcock, but that could literally change depending on how the leafs preform in the playoffs. I think he's in the NHL in 2 years minimum.

He's a bust because of how the oil deal with him, look at what happened to dylan strome... get him out of edmonton and in a proper development system and he can be elite. Takes a hell of a lot more than hudon to get him
