Fair, but the main point of what i'm saying is that he's so redundant to their roster right now. That bottom 6 could use another scorer more so than Reaves.

It would be a monumental mistake for the Leafs to dress Reaves...like play McMann or even Robertson over him ffs. They have enough toughness with Bert, Domi, Benoit, McCabe and Edmundson....

I could definitely see Ceci being moved if they can find the right upgrade. I think he would've been moved at the deadline this season, had the right dman been available. But pickings are slim for right shot dmen this off-season.
And I think you're right about Bertuzzi, but the contracts into late 30s are Hollands specialty</div></div>
This is very likely Holland's last season so we good LOL.
I forgot about the NMC, that's unfortunate.
Ceci and a 1st was the rumored package for Tanev, too bad that didn't go through.

Meh, Bert is 29 and right around the age where players his style sharply decline. I'd rather not.
PS, I wouldn't be surprised if Kane and Ceci aren't on next years roster.
PPS, I would love Bjugstad back. Always wanted to keep him. I'm sure we could of found a way to keep him, if we didn't sign Janmark or Erne, but oh well.

A true franchise player is Draisaitl. He put up more points in 1 playoff run than Mathews last 4 combined.

But since you want to go down that rabbit hole... over the past 3 weeks Nurse has played the <strong>37th most 5v5 minutes in the league</strong>. That's most certainly NOT 3rd pairing minutes. And he has posted 60% xGF, SCF and HDCF in those games.
Stop making **** up.</div></div>
Ya and look at his competition. Since March 8/24, Nurse is second last at 27.8% for TOI% vs Elites. To simplify that for your pea brain, out of all our dman, not include Ceci and Stecher, <strong>Nurse has played the least amount against elite players. </strong>
PS, you still haven't even tried to argue against any of my points I made against Nurse, obviously because you know I'm right.

So tell me where I'm wrong then? Don't be a homer fan and just blindly defend your team. Please, elaborate....
Also, you do realize that Nurse's minutes/quality of competition has been reduced to bottom 6 players over the last 3 weeks right??

Idk if I'd say he's mid cause to me that means he's around average which he isn't, he's still a top pairing or at least great 3rd option dman on almost every team in the NHL.
I get frustrated with him too, but realistically unless we can actually replace him with an as effective player it would be a pretty massive step in the wrong direction for us right now to dump him.</div></div>
I say he's mid, because there really isn't anything, other than skating, that he excels at. Quick breakdown:
- For someone who's 6'4", he is not as physical as he can be.
- I mentioned before, his flaws on the PK. He's really bad. Statistically, our worst PK dman.
- He will not be able to successfully QB a PP on any other team. He had "success" with us because of Nuge, 97 and Drai. He has never shown skills to control the PP as a dman, like Barrie and Bouchard do.
- His gap control is awful. Leaves to much space for the attacking player and commits way too early to blocking the shot (which he rarely does).
- I said his skating is good, but he does not use it nearly as much as he should/can, other than the odd time he joins the forwards. PS, last time he did that, Stars had a 3-1 and scored....Too many times i've watched him in the d-zone where he can easily skate the puck out of danger, but chooses to turn the puck over with a bad pass.
Based on all of this ^^^ I have no issues calling him mid :(

As an Oilers fan, I'm at my wits end with Nurse. If there is a way to get rid of him, I would. He is just so damn mid. He is not a top pairing dman on a contending team. He can't play no.1 pp or PK mins. Horrible gap control and statistically our worst PK'ing dman. His biggest asset is his skating and athleticism, which he doesn't even use to his advantage most of the time.
I made this comment 3-4 offseasons ago, but he should of been converted to a forward...i think he'd have much more success.

I guess I should say he'll be a more complete player than Bouchard. Bouchard has defensive gaffs and doesn't play PK.
Considering Bouchard is due for a huge contract raise too, I would say Bouchard + a top prospect gets it done.

Hyman, Nuge and Kane are still well above average skaters.
Fair point, but how many of those stats are occupied by McDavid or McLeod. Hyman and Nuge are good skaters, but they're both on the decline. Kane does not play a fast game at all anymore, complete 180 from pre-injury.
This is all true, and adding Tanev doesn't help. Actually Ceci and Desharnais have above average top speed, but they don't get there often enough.</div></div>
Trading Ceci for a faster defenseman would help a lot. Ekholm is also 34, so skating will be more of a concern for him too.
