<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PurpleHippo</b></div><div>It depends on the day with him (which isn't a lovely thing to say about a 9.25M dman); at times he does an incredible job and fills the exact role we need him to, others he doesn't.
Idk if I'd say he's mid cause to me that means he's around average which he isn't, he's still a top pairing or at least great 3rd option dman on almost every team in the NHL.

I get frustrated with him too, but realistically unless we can actually replace him with an as effective player it would be a pretty massive step in the wrong direction for us right now to dump him.</div></div>

I say he's mid, because there really isn't anything, other than skating, that he excels at. Quick breakdown:
- For someone who's 6'4", he is not as physical as he can be.
- I mentioned before, his flaws on the PK. He's really bad. Statistically, our worst PK dman.
- He will not be able to successfully QB a PP on any other team. He had "success" with us because of Nuge, 97 and Drai. He has never shown skills to control the PP as a dman, like Barrie and Bouchard do.
- His gap control is awful. Leaves to much space for the attacking player and commits way too early to blocking the shot (which he rarely does).
- I said his skating is good, but he does not use it nearly as much as he should/can, other than the odd time he joins the forwards. PS, last time he did that, Stars had a 3-1 and scored....Too many times i've watched him in the d-zone where he can easily skate the puck out of danger, but chooses to turn the puck over with a bad pass.

Based on all of this ^^^ I have no issues calling him mid :(
