well if they are getting a guy like Rielly , thats why.

yeah would most likely have traded him but if you could get him for under a mill for a year or whatever he could be on the bottom pair instead of Sandin or Lehtonen and you could have 1 extra

no , that trade never happens. I just picked a random cheap goalie and gave up guys you'd need to trade to make the money work.

If Poile made him available, there's enough teams that could use a defender of his capability with his great caphit that it could drive the price up.</div></div>
ye i agree with you, i was more just making it to see how the $ would work. less about the actual trade, i didnt put much thought into it.

Yeah, I think that this is more along the lines of what they would actually do. I really just made this as an example to show a friend. I would love Ekholm as a Leaf tho.

Ekholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>I don't see him slowing down soon. If anything, I thought he was less than his best this season, due to playing with a rookie he didn't seem to have much chemistry with. If NSH keeps him and Fabbro together, I imagine they'll be a much more effective pair as they develop better chemistry and Fabbro makes fewer rookie gaffs. Personally, I'd like to see if Josi and fabbro can play well together, because Ekholm & Ellis used to be so good together. They only got split up when Subban came to town and his style didn't mesh with Josi's. It's hard to fathom Ekholm dropping off in the two years remaining on his contract.</div></div>
I'd really be pushing for Ekholm if I was Dubas ... he's everything the leafs need in a defensive dman, he doesnt shoot right but other than that hes is a great fit imo... but if I'm nash I'm not moving him lol

Ekholm
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>Hard to say. Obviously Liljegren would be of great interest to NSH, but it's hard to imagine TOR wanting to include him as part of a package for Ekholm. If Poile were to make Ekholm available, I'd be surprised if there wasn't a pretty good bidding war for him. I'm sure any non-rebuilding team would love to add him, and his bargain contract isn't going to price any interested teams out of the running.</div></div>
Thats a good point, I totally misread what you said for a second lol... his contract probably makes his value even higher now that its gonna be a flat cap for at least the rest of his deal. Do you think he's gonna slow down soon?

I was just making this to show somebody an idea , was just trying to make the $ work and I didn't put too much thought into the trade but I'd assume Nashville would like that pick but maybe want a forward prospect or maybe even prefer Johnsson rather than Dermott... idk something like that. I would love Ekholm as a leaf tho.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Then you're not getting Pesce. Pesce is a top 15 D man in the NHL. Carolina are not going to sell short because they also have the best D man in hockey (Dougie Hamilton) and a top 5 D man in hockey (Jaccob Slavin)
As for needing a goalie, nope. In the playoffs, Reimer as a .934 and Mrazek a .929. That's more than good enough to win a cup. Also, Reimer was better this year than Freddie was, so if Freddie is a number 1, Reimer is a number 1. Whcih takes me back to my starting point.
Pesce STARTS with Nylander.</div></div>
If those goalies are good enough than why did they lose to Boston in 5 this year and 4 the year before ?
I doubt this trade happens but if they were willing to do Kadri for Pesce than it isn’t costing Nylander. And leafs wouldn’t do that.

Why not? They have the last 2 seasons and aren’t close to being a contender , why wouldn’t they sell? I doubt they’d move dudas but I think that’s a pretty fair trade otherwise .

Yeah that’s not happening ... Carolina needs a goalie and Fred is a legit number 1... they’ve got tons of D and Pesce wasn’t exactly great this season, no chance Toronto moves Nylander for him.

But that defence is INSANE.</div></div>
That third line is less talented but much “heavier” also Anderson almost scored 30 two years ago.
And yeah obviously you take MM out and it’ll be a less talented group but I think this team is better still. Ardvisson did score 30 in 3 straight years....
