Small moves to make a difference
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Britishbulldog</b></div><div>I was just about to post the same thing regarding Bogo. I rolled my eyes when I saw Dubas signed him but he has been a decent 3rd pair RHD at only $1 MIL. That's value we haven't seen for a while.
So...I would keep Bogo at $1 MIL and not get Savard a lot more...
As for Lemieux I think I would go after Deslaurier in Anaheim for the 4th line LW. Cheaper contract, less cost to acquire and qualifies for Seattle Expansion conditions.
Instead of Boone Jenner I might see if Foligno would come half retained on his expiring contract. I suspect less to get him compared to Jenner and plays a similar game style.</div></div>
Foligno doesn’t really Fit. You either want a top 6 winger to go with JT and Willy or a good shutdown C to move kerfoot to 2lw.
Agree with your point though.

What does skinner cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jah1722</b></div><div>Skinner at 4.5 and three firsts including a top 10? Every team takes that</div></div>
I get that but he doesn’t play centre. Matthews has a nagging wrist injury and we can’t really afford to move a centre. Not to mention that we aren’t looking for 1sts.
Granted that we could flip the entire package for something very ueeful as this is a massive overpay but as it sits between the two teams it makes no sense either way.

As much as it pans me to admit it... Bogo has been decent. Plenty good enough for the role he is being asked to fill. I don’t see why we would go after savard.

Toronto says no. Not in the market for a trade like this.

Duchene where are you

2nd, De Angelo is negative value right now. He cleared waivers, Rangers need to find a way to lose his cap hit...
Is Duchene overpaid? Yep, funny though there are people on this board who think not...that tells me I have something here.</div></div>
Duchene is a cap dump, negative value.

It’s 3m for 1 year. The 3rd should cover that. Could be a 2nd but that’s splitting hairs.
Amirov Engvall and a 1st is pretty fair in my opinion.

Pretty fair trade with the retention. Leafs aren’t in any position to protect him from the expansion.

What could have been
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheFlamingC</b></div><div>Okay, but we all know how useless of a stat +/- is. I believe he was-3 vs Montreal and -3 vs Edmonton. Without those two games, he’s -2. Personally, I think that if he could clean up the inconsistency and be better at net front defensively, he’s a top pair guy. He hasn’t been too sheltered either, from the eye test, not sure about advanced stats, but he hasn’t been doing as bad as his +/- indicates</div></div>
He certainly has been sheltered. He is as bad as his -8. If he is ever going to be a decent top pair player he needs to learn to skate as well. He’s still young and I’m not writing him off. But he has more than just a bit of maturing to work on.

It’s as bad as it seems.... eichel’s contract would not be prorated due to leafs use of Ltir.

He is -8 playing 3rd pair sheltered minutes. Imagine him in the top four for the last couple of years. Not a big fan. He’s an okay bottom pair guy, but he has a lot of things to improve before he gets anywhere near a top 4 spot.

Not to mention valimaki would be -120 in his career by now if he weren’t injured and playing top 4.
I think lindholm + Hanafin for Dougie (which is what this trade boiled down to) was great for the flames and I like their current defence over this iteration. Let’s face it... if you have dougie you don’t sign tanev.

Kerfoot is too versitilre to move. Unless you are adding to upgrade him (not the leafs fan cap friendly upgrade... a real upgrade) I can’t see a situation where moving him makes any sense.
