Road to the stanley Cup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aedoran</b></div><div>Detroit passes. Coburn and Rutta are too old to fit in to Detroit's rebuild, so they are nothing more than a cap dump. Then TB wants Howard and Green with half of their salary retained. I'm sorry but there is absolutely NO reason for Detroit to do this. Tampa's 1st will most likely be one of the last 4 picks in the first round basically a 2nd rd pick. Colorado could go far into the playoffs so that pick will most likely be toward the end of the round. Giving Detroit no reason to do this.</div></div>
-1st it’s a Vancouver pick.
-2nd it’s can be done on TDL bcz Detroit is not getting to the playoffs so why keep Green and Howard
-3rd Rutta is an expiring contract and Coburn is a great veteran for the younger players in Detroit+ he can be flipped or trade Nemeth

Ryan Suzuki can be but for now they can trade for one during TDL if they don’t feel that Haula or Staal can play that role Canes can potentially trade for one. Danault could be helpful but don’t think MTL and Carolina would make trades after the Aho Contract.....

Fleury is an okay B prospect but nothing special, every team has those and Kulak is a top 6 D as you say which are a dime a dozen so sorry if neither of those pieces get me all that excited and the picks are picks, not even one 1st rounder.
Would you be happy if the Habs traded Kotkaniemi and Byron for some this same package? Not likely, sorry but this trade has very little value after two seasons for the Jets, for a guy with Laine's abilities I'd want at least one piece back thats almost a guarantee to provide some long term value, this trade doesn't provide that.</div></div>
I would happily accept replace Tatar/Drouin in the trade

Sami Niku plays 2nd RD = Petry better than him
Ehlers and Laine are 2nd line wingers = Tatar is probably top 9 then
Tucker Poolman plays 3rd LD = Kulak as good as him likely
So:
2nd line C
2nd pair RD
3rd line W who pots 25G
3rd pair LD
Throw in an A grade prospect and picks and thats already an overpayment.
HABS say no.</div></div>
-Kulak IMO can easily be replaced by Reilly or Gardiner(don’t know if he can fit in the cap space)
-Danault will not be resigned and can be replaced. Kotkaniemi Poehling Suzuki are the future Center for MTL. Suzuki IMO will play this year RW and Perrault will play 3rd Center
-Tatar will be replaced by Laine
-Petry is the problem for MTL if they don’t find a replacement for next year bcz Juulsen and Brook are way too young to be Top4 def (Ristolainen maybe or Alec Martinez)
-Fleury is a great prospect but i think we can find him a replacement later Juulsen and Brook can be the future of the team

We would be better off keeping Laine. and letting him build to 50 goals a year, on top of all the other weapons we have.
Not to mention that we have a solid bottom 6 core already in place and have room for our own young prospects to grow, who already show more promise.</div></div>
Yh but if he decides to do a Puljujarvi move and go play in europe bcz he doesn’t want to play for the jets what do you do?? Mtl is IMO the only team that can give the value + the win now to Winnipeg. They also have the cap space to sign laine. MTL has alot of Players on their roster and will need to trade

For what do you need the cap space. Just not resigning Gardiner + Domi contract is more than enough to resign Domi Mete and Juulsen. Kinkaid will be replaced by lindgren so 1M$ less and Mason will be off cap space 1.8M$ Cap space goes up every year let’s say 1.5M$ next year you still have enough for Domi Mete and Juulsen.

Drouin is on a consider cheaper contract. Juulsen and Fleury are really good prospects
Drouin apparently is not that great in the locker room but so does Laine.
It’s not the perfect trade but it’s somewhere near (maybe 2021 protected 1st round pick or switch Fleury with Brook)

Markov is way past being in the NHL i am in favor of signing him till he plays his 1000 games with MTL but cut him after (same thing happened with Tomas Plecanec). Brook is a RD i could see him potentially replace Petry

Why isn’t it possible. Ottawa free up Tkachuk and Stone so Calgary will have ~8.5M$. They can trade Frolik or maybe add him in the Ottawa trade. 12.4M$ free they sign 1 or 2 700K$ players and you have enough to make a good offer sheet. Or you they can also trade TJ Brodie for a 1st round pick or a young prospect.......
