Bye bye rielly
As much as some TOR fans seem to love to hate him, trading Reilly is not the answer. TOR’s blue line as it currently stands already needs two solid pieces added to it. Subtracting Reilly from it makes no sense.
Also, PIT declines.

Boeser
That’s definitely not getting you Boeser. MIN’s best bet to get him will be through free agency, as the buyouts will be down to about $800k each. They can throw money at him then.

If we were trying to get tougher to play against
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LuckyMoneyPuck</b></div><div>how can someone be "too fast" to play center????
They cover more ice than anyone on the ice and some of the fastest players in the league.. like McDavid, are centers.....
If you want to say it's because he throws his weight around, well centers do that too. Look at PLD.
The reason DOC is a winger and not a center is because of his hands. Nothing to do with speed or forechecking. He doesn't have the hands to be a center nor the vision.</div></div>
When mentioning his speed, I was directly referring to his forechecking. Centers are primarily responsible for playing crease to crease, with great positional soundness and awareness, and with the biggest defensive responsibility of the forwards. At wing DOC has free reign to consistently be the F1, thus apply forecheck and throw hits that may briefly take him out of position defensively. He excels at this role which is key in terms of puck possession overall. Thus, playing him at wing is playing to his strengths. At center he would be handcuffed in that regard with greater positional responsibility. Not only did I mention my reluctance to believe he would even be able to handle said responsibilities, if he were able to, I wouldn’t even want him to do so because it doesn’t play to his strengths. What I described above is one of the main arguments for moving Acciari back to RW, with the exception of the occasional face off, as opposed to 4C.

I wouldn’t even trade Graves for Anderson one for one. Also, MTL doesn’t need LD anyway. By the way, he definitely would not be playing with Crosby if he were acquired.
You lowballed Zadorov and Domi, and I’d rather resign Ned as backup.
DOC is too fast and too good of a forechecker to move to center, if he’s even capable of that switch. He’s effective at wing.

That’s an insane overpay for Marner, Acciari has positive value, and Kakko is a reclamation project at this point.

Nonetheless, he’ll never sign that and CAR would match.

Necas Signs Offer Sheet
Necas isn’t signing a 1 year offer sheet, let alone one at that weak cap hit. If he magically does, CAR matches and trades him for more than the compensation.

Breaking up the Guentzel - Aho - Jarvis line would be a mistake imo. Also, I’m sure Guentzel will want at least 6 years.

EDM is not paying to increase the cap hit on a bad goalie contract. If they’re paying, they’re doing so to cut ties with Campbell’s contract in its entirety and use the cap space wisely, not on Merzlikins.

Testing an idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SupremeBone</b></div><div>Thanks for the input!
While I realise they have some cap issues, I mapped it out in an AGM and it's possible even without trading Gustavsson. It involves keeping a largely similar roster and running with only 22 players so it's tight, but still possible. After this year, the cap issues disappear with 29mil in space with only Faber as the major re-signing to do.</div></div>
Agreed. I also just mapped out a 2 year scenario around MIN acquiring Cirelli this summer. With those buyouts going down to about $800k each, and the likely influx of ELC’s such as Ohgren, Heidt, etc., it’s more than possible. Kaprizov’s extension in “year 3” wouldn’t be an issue either. Even if those ELC’s aren’t ready for the NHL until 2026, which they will be before then, it’s still more than possible. I think Cirelli is a great fit for MIN, but i’m still not sold that TBL would be willing to part ways with him, due to his defensive responsibility on their team.
