I do not want to see Lindholm at that cap hit. Too much money and too much term for a guy who's production has fallen off dramatically over the last 2 years. Paying him until he's 36 will be a huge mistake.
As much as JT is a monster now he's going to decline by the time his deal is up. Can't have 2 contracts like that for 2 guys in their mid 30's.

Love it all except Z doesn't play the right side. Tocchet likes the righty lefty D combos. I'd rather see Tanev for a couple years then Willander can move into that #2 RD spot.

Amazing Offseason

You're looking at a player taken in the second round, another second and a first. Not exactly a bag of pucks offer especially for a rebuilding team.
You may view this offer as insulting. I view it as a massive overpay for a guy who is constantly in trade rumors because the current GM can stand him and he only tries hard when he gets to play offense.

Canucks pass. Those two guys aren't worth those picks.
FYI teams can only have 3 buyouts max.

Way way way too much for Necas.
I'd personally let Joshua walk at that price point. 9 million for 2 guys on the 3rd line will haunt the team.
Zadorov doesn't play the right side. Myers as RD1 is a disaster waiting to happen.
Love the Guentzel signing. Really hope Canucks can get EP40 a winger.
Dillon signing is solid too.

I'd rather just sign Hronek to the shorter deal with the 3x6.5 or so rather then go for an older player who isn't as productive. Plus I don't know if a rebuilding team is going to give up all those futures to waste Hronek's prime years while they are rebuilding.
Really like the Walker and Dillon signing.

I don't see Buffalo or the Ducks doing either of those deals.
I am seriously at a loss for how short sighted Canuck fans are with Hronek. Why trade a top pairing RD that you control as an RFA for a winger who's going to walk in a year. Makes no sense to me. Especially when the replacements are older and just as expensive.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Prime_Jimbo</b></div><div>I like Hronek but I'm willing to bet on Hughes, and this team, without him. We don't know the dynamic between Hughes and Hronek. That said, I'd rather split them up if they can add a Tanev-like player to the mix. Hronek was pretty invisible come the playoffs and they barely give him PP time. His stats without Hughes are not great. I like him but the $ he is asking for is a problem. And, Willander will be up soon and he'll be pushing for PP2 time.
Crowse is the bigger piece. Bjugstad replaces Blueger at a really good $.</div></div>
Don't know the dynamic between Hughes and Hronek? Hughes with just a training camp under his belt with Hronek said he was the best D partner he's ever played with.
I'm so tired of this "he can't make more then Hughes" trope/excuse. Paying Hronek 8 mil doesn't mean squat. It's just how the business works. Dead cap era is over, cap has gone up and Hughes signed his deal 3 years ago when the cap was 81.5. When Hughes hits free agency in 3 years he's going to get 13+ million dollars.

Matt Roy is going to get 5+ million a year. No chance he signs for 3.5. Might as well just resign Hronek considering he's more productive and younger then Roy and will make similar money.
Especially with that garbage return.

That is a real meager return for a top of the lineup 50 point RD. Bjugstad isn't likely to hit 45 points with the canucks as he won't get the minutes he got in Arizona and that was a career year for him. Not likely to repeat itself at 31.
Tanev is simply not a replacement for Hronek and why piss off our best player and captain by trading away the guy he himself said was his most talented D partner ever? Tanev is also 35 soon and his play will likely fall off sooner rather then later. Hronek can man our #1 RD spot for the next 5-8 years.
The 1 year Costco membership was a nice touch.

NYR has enough of those guys. No interest in that little rodent Garland either. You can have Zibanejad for free (he has a full NMC so moronic to even include him in the deal to begin with).</div></div>
And I wouldn't trade EP40 for Laffy unless you threw in schneider and picks. As good as Laffy was he had under 60 points in the regular season and he's a winger. He's no where near the value of a 90-100 point 2 way center.

The trade to the Sens is completely moronic. Especially when the return is Batherson who is part of the hockey canada sexual assualt scandal and Zub who is a more expensive version of Soucy.
Reinhart has zero chance of signing for that amount of money. He's projected with both AFP and daily faceoff to be over 11 million and he's a winger not a center.
You named this right this is dreamin but more on the nightmare side.

The Ranger trade is pie in the sky stuff. As much as I like Pettersson the rangers aren't giving up that much to get him.
The bruins trade I completely disagree with the comments in this thread. I'd rather pay the 14ish million for Boeser and Hronek for 120+ points instead of paying 9 mil for 70+ points.

Both Necas and Guentzel will take more money to sign then those figures. Guentzel will be above 9, Necas over 7 on a long term deal.
Also while it may say Zadorov can play the right side he rarely does and is far better on the left side. Tanev contract is too much money and term for a guy who's going to be 35 this year.

He signed. The team doesn't have to do a damn thing even if he asks for a trade. He just signed for 8 years. I doubt 2 months later he wants out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mediumyeet</b></div><div>Yep that contract is basically immovable. Edm best route is to buy him out. Next year they would get an additional 10mil in cap space and 8.5mil the following year. After that it would be 3 years or something or 9.5mil cap hit which would sting but they need to continue going all in the next two years especially with new contracts for draisaitl, Bouchard, and McDavid on the horizon</div></div>
Even the buyout isn't really an option. You get two years of relief and then bam 4 years at 9 million dollar cap hits. Unless your thinking is we have 1 year left with McDavid, Draisaitl and Bouchard at lower cap hits and go crazy trying to win it all next year.

I can't see the Canucks giving up that much to move on from Mikheyev. I think they'd rather just have him back and deal with the cap hit then giving up 2 players I could easily see in their lineup in the next 2-3 years.
