<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>its some nice work, but they could probably trade players like chytil, reave and goodrow if needed, maybe get a 2c closer to 5 mil. who knows really. i think they will valie keeping their second overall pick over those players. yes ot would screw them, but they will match nonetheless.</div></div>
I just don't see them weakening their team just to keep unproven Kakko.

Kakko to Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>League min. Jones can replace Lindgren if needed. A 2C can be acquired from DAL when they are out of playoffs at the TDL. Pavelski at 5M(1.7M at TDL) retained even if needed. Strome isn’t a good 2C so really we will just continue to do the same things as this season. Renting those final pieces isn’t an issue. Again, this is all moot. OS don’t happen</div></div>
Dallas isn't going to breakup one of the Leagues best lines while they are still trying to contend, you're assuming won't be a playoff/wild card team. Jones can't replace Lindgren who plays 20+ minutes on the top pair, come on dude. Are you trying to weaken your team in every aspect just to keep Kakko?

Doing the math for a Kakko OS match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Hahaha you’re going to be very angry when your GM doesn’t do it, no other GM does it. He will sign a bridge around 3M to be with a contender instead of going to a rebuild mess if the 4.2 is even offered. It’s a pipe dream. You need to make it worth his while to move to a bad team who he may not be with by the time they are contending.. Drury brought in the grit to help train the kids how to be tougher and to protect them. Laf is way tougher than last year, Kakko also. They are all going to be a few pounds bigger, stronger next year and more skilled. People really don’t calculate the growth from within into the equation. He could subtract something and still be tougher than this season. Blais didn’t even play 60% of the season so he will be adding grit immediately</div></div>
I don't necessarily want Kakko. After seeing posts of Kakko for Vilardi and Turcotte and/or Kaliyev, I can promise you no GM is going to trade any of those 3 players when they can easily offersheet the player for a 2nd instead since the team can't afford to match it.
Don't worry, Kings aren't giving up that haul for Kakko and most likely won't offersheet him anyway. Kakko isn't an immediate improvement over Kaliyev and Vilardi.
The point is, the Kings could offersheet him and the Rangers would be unable to match it. End. Of. Story. . . .

Kakko to Kings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Moving Nemeth isn’t an issue. Let’s assume in the worst case it’s a 3rd(the real money part isn’t nearly as important as you think to billionaires). Reaves would get us a 4th-3rd and we are basically even while finding the money to match. Oh and Goodrow has more value than you think and there 3.6M. Lindgren had lots of value and we can slot Jones in that spot. Again, TB has Serg, Cirelli, Cernak all to sign while being over the cap.. no OS… even after multiple cups… the OS isn’t happening</div></div>
How much money are you spending to replace open spots after Reaves and Nemeth are shipped out? You still need a 2C my guy

Doing the math for a Kakko OS match
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NYR1983</b></div><div>Buying out Trouba would give us the 4m to match Kakko alone. Not signing a 6m 2C this summer like most think. Lindgren could easily be traded for a nice return while moving Jones into that spot. It’s going to need to be a 6m+ for them to let him got for picks. Chytil, Goodrow, Reaves all have trade value as well. 4.2M isn’t going to be an issue for the basically extinct OS. If no one did it to TB after Stanley cups for better players(Cirelli, Serg, Cernak) then KAkko is safe</div></div>
That's wishful thinking and Rangers are not going to buy out Trouba. Drury just added Goodrow, Blais, and Reaves because they need toughness. He isn't going to buyout or trade one of his best hard nose players in Trouba to save Kakko. Nor should he. Having guys like Trouba, Lindgren, Goodrow, and Reaves is vital to playoff ranger team.
The argument in the previous post isn't whether or not it is realistic for a team to offersheet Kakko, but if it happened, could the Rangers afford to match it? The answer appears to be no.

That's kind of a strange statement considering all of them are barely over 20 years old except for Byfield who is barely 19...

What has Kakko done to justify both Vilardi AND Turcotte as a return? If the Kings wanted to put Vilardi and Turcotte in a 'package', it could acquire a top 10 RW. Kings can't do that though because they still have a LD to trade for.
