As a Nashville fan I'm surprisingly happy with that trade, tough I don't think Sakic would do that

If this is what`s needed for Duchene, the price already would´ve been met. You have to put in one of Fabbro/ Girard and I say that as a Nsh fan

They could do that trade or stay a contender with 2 top 10 D and a top 10 RW, their next 2 first round picks and a second rounder...
I know McJesus saves us all but trading away arguably three of the best 4 players on a stanley cup finalist won´t help the team

So how exactly is the rule when offersheeting a player?</div></div>
if the you offer sheet a player for more than 5 years, you take the AAV and multiply that by the years to get the total total sum (6.25 x 8 = 50) and then divide that by 5 (50/5=10) to determine the AAV used to calculate the compensation. (10M)</div></div>
If i understand that correctly: if Niederreiter gets 5*6.25 from the Preds, they would have to pay the stated compensations?

A really good fit for the 2nd line though.</div></div>
It is Smith not Wilson

Nice, i had almost the same idea but was like 7 minutes faster
I guess you went the 8 skater route? Do you think a 2nd rounder is enough to Vegas to choose Smith over a guy like Neal/ Jarnkrok?
You didn't re-sign Fisher. Is it because of Age, Cap, space on the roster or something other?

Zetterberg
Yes of course we'd like 36year old Zetterberg for the next 4 years at 6M.
By no means our core is between 22-27 years old and 36 year old henrik fits right in with the core...
1 time 60 point scorer Arvidsson will get almost the same amount as proven top line Center Johansen...
Viktor Stalberg who we bought out like 2 years ago (we pay him more than a million to play somewhere else) will be signed again...
Thanks but no thanks

Protection list is either 8/1: Johansen, Arvidsson, Forsberg, Neal, Ellis, Josi, Ekholm, Subban
or: Josi, Subban, Ekholm, Johansen, Arvidsson, Forsberg, Neal, Jarnkrok, Wilson, (Sissons, Smith, Watson, etc.)

Preds
I'm okay with that
First thought (altough i'm swiss and like weber): Nashville has an abundance of RHD prospects, the most ready one is Carrier. If you give Weber a two year contract you may prevent the young guys from entering the NHL
Second thought: Arvi goes straight to UFA, so i would rather pay more money for a longer contract or a shorter term prove it contract

Realistic optimistic Preds
Why trade Jarnkrok for a player not projected in the line up?
You then lose a capable winger in the expansion draft and then go out and sign a declining winger? The cap doesn't seem to be a problem
Aberg-Fisher-Wilson sounds like a better 3rd line to me

Maybe add a condition for the first, like conference final/ cup final but then you'd have to change the pick to '18

Poaching Forwards from Nash and NyR- getting Defense from Minny and Anaheim

I know it is only for a year of Neal but common you can do better than that (Andrew Shaw fetched a 2nd rounder...)
1 year of Milan Lucic cost the Kings: Colin Miller, Martin Jones and a first round pick
Even if you would throw in a first, Nashville would rather pay to not pick one of their forwards...</div></div>
You obviously aren't familiar with Fasching
I'd GLADLY give u a 2nd round pick instead of a good prospect if that's what u prefer</div></div>
I said said Shaw fetched a 2nd rounder, this was in no way a statement that Neal is as bad as Shaw...
Neal has a really important role on this Nsh team, i think it would need more than Fasching to trade him
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>grovercleveland</b></div><div>You see, there is this thing called the expansion draft...</div></div>
Nsh protects: Johansen, Forsberg, Arvidsson, Neal, Josi, Ellis, Subban, Ekholm
-> exposed: Jarnkrok, Smith, Wilson, Sissons,...
Vegas takes probably Jarnkrok
So there are 3 scenarios:
1) Vegas takes Jarnkrok
2) Vegas takes one of Wilson/ Smith and receives a 2nd rounder (or something else)
3) Vegas takes Wilson/ Smith, on top of that Neal gets traded for Fasching
2>1>>3
Same with Minnesota, etc. You have to pay almost the full price to get a player, because the teams will lose an asset in the expansion draft anyway. How do people not see that?

Don´t think so:
#18 listed as Center (if you substract Marner, Nylander, Granlund and add Zetterberg he's #16) in points this season
#11 Center in points over the last 4 seasons
big frame with his offensive ability
-> With 7.25 he's the 11th highest paid Center, all of the Centers more paid are 3+ years older
McDavid, Draisaitl, Eichel, Matthews, Tavares, Seguin will all get a bigger or similar contract within the next 3 years

I think Drouin has more value than Erik Johnson, so Colorado should retain salary or accept a cap dump from Tampa

Nashville Predators 17-18 Roster (v. 1.0
Fishers cap hit of 5.5 is way too much
His currents cap hit is 4.4 and he´s declining with 0 points in the playoffs so far (altough in a shuttdown role, he should have more points)
-> i wouldn´t give him more than 3.5 for 1 year or 3 per for 2 years
I do think arvy won´t get this much (only one year of production), the stats tell his numbers are sustainable but one can never know
-> I guess something around 4.75-5m per season
PS: the lines are a bit juggled
My guess:
Forsberg-Johansen-Arvidsson
Fiala-Jarnkrok-Neal
Wilson-Sissons-Aberg
Watson-Fisher-Salomaki
McLeod-Gaudreau
Ekholm-Subban
Josi-Ellis
Irwin-Carrier (or re-sign weber for 1 year)

What the Bolts should do
If you want Ellis, you definitely have to pay a higher price
Nashville's biggest need is a 2C, but if they trade Ellis their biggest need will be a top4 RD, so the trade has to be enticing
