Building a Better Even Strength Team

Yeah if Chiarelli is still on the helm he would. Larsson is an integral part of the oilers d, and Kenny knows that. Toronto has to throw in at least a 2nd round pick for that to work.

And your answer would be No.

Disregarding the cap, I would still say no. Unless you do my classic move in NHL 20 franchise mode: trade the salary players for young players that potentially can produce as much that are being paid WAY less.

comment possible kreider trades
From TOR:
LW Andreas Johnsson
RW Jeremy Bracco
LD Filip Král
2021 2nd round pick (conditinal pick. If Leafs re-sign Kreider, it would become 2022 1st (because 2021 1st is tied to a condition)
From NYR:
LW Chris Kreider (25% retained)
G Alexandar Georgiev
C Lias Andersson
Basically Bracco for Andersson, Johnsson for Georgiev and Kral+2nd* for Kreider at 25% retained.

Robertson is a good prospect, but probably another year of junior and couple years in the AHL before he'll be a regular NHLer.

Next year
Here's the problem. Deangelo is doing well offensively, so if the Rangers decide to sell high on this kid, it is going to take more than Kapanen plus very meh picks. Cancel that, the Rangers are going to want more than Kapanen plus mid-picks. Let me give you a quick breakdown of Tony Deangelo. High skating ability. good offensive hockey IQ, when it is in his interest. Been known as a very selfish player through out his career. Plays a very one-dimensional game considering his a defender. Both the Tampa Bay and Arizona organizations got sick of his antics, lack of motivation, determination, work out routine (or lack their of), or at least as was so reported, which is why he is on his third NHL team in his very young career. Basically, the kid is a quality offensive defender IF you can continue to motivate him, or light a fire under his keister on a regular basis. I think teams would be very wary to acquire to him, and I think it's something the Leafs should stay away from.
If Kapanen can get you Phillipe Myers 1-for-1, I think that is the far better option for Toronto, then taking what would be a high risk, to acquire yet another offensive piece that lacks defensive upside.

Are those lines good
lol Strome doesn't have much value as a C. Defense is pretty poor and it's not like he's good at FO.
Lineups don't really matter as long as Quinn is coach. If he's here, doesn't matter what goes in the blender....it's not going to be great.
Basically you have playmakers: Kakko, Buch, Strome, Panarin, Kravtsov
You have scorers: Chytil, Mika
You have net front players: Lias, Howden, Kreider,
You have grinders: Fast, Lemieux, McKegg
You want to split most of those up so you don't have too many similar player types together
Panarin - Mika - Strome
Kreider - Chytil - Buch
Lemieux - Lias - Kakko
McKegg - Howden - Fast

Kidding lol
I wonder if Ceci haters were watching tonight. The entire D had a good game tonight but for the flak Ceci takes on here....he looked particularly good.</div></div>
Ceci was put in a postion to succeed tonight by Sheldon Keefe unlike with Mike Babcock and I agree he looked good. Thought it was also great that Keefe let Engvall kill penalities tonight and was rewarded when he scored short handed goal. Keefe is the coach that made Engvall into a center and allowed him to penality kill in the AHL.
Also great move by Keefe to put Mikheyev playing with Tavares and also to put Barrie on first line power play with Reilly. Keefe made more positive coaching moves in 1 game that Babcock did for all the games he coached this season.
Finally the Leafs have a coach who knows how to win and the team has been waiting for years since Punch Imlach to have a coach like this.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vaher28</b></div><div>Do you think 2022 1st top 10 protected and 2022 3rd would make sense?</div></div>
Maybe? If Georgiev keeps playing the way he's been playing and Deangelo keeps putting up points, NYR could possibly get a 1st round pick for each of them come the trade deadline. Georgiev does not have arbitration rights for next season, so teams up against the cap and need a goalie might even give up more than a 1st if there's a bidding war for Georgiev. If... He keeps playing the way he's been playing. Also NYR might keep him if Lundqvist requests a trade or retires.

Trade with Missouri and MSG
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Vaher28</b></div><div>What would be his role in NY?</div></div>
Honestly think he could break into the top-6. Depending on how Kravtsov and Chytil pan out, and where we are drafting in 2020, he could potentially be second line RW.

Opening night lineup
Seems like this quote will become my red line over this summer :
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Laudan</b></div><div>My guess is :
Hyman - Tavares - Marner ( Mikheyev till Hyman comes back )
Moore - Matthews - Nylander
Johnsson - Kerfoot - Kapanen
Agostino - Shore - Spezza
Hopefully they will put Mikheyev into press-box and resign him to Moore's 2 x 775k, same as i was claiming last summer....play Johnsson and Kapanen in 4th Line or 3rd Line max, they wouldnt sniff 30 Points mark and they would be signed for current Term but at 2,5M, thats 1,7M in the pot. Brown would do just fine in the line with Matthews last year, he would be 40 Points again and would bring back more then 3rd Pick in the trade.....
Pump Moore for two years to a 40 Pointer with Matthews and Nylander, cause his height is handicap and Hyman proly being victim of Expansion Draft ( being 30 at this time and having four 40 points Seasons behind him so he will be to expensive ), so you trade Moore for something sexy, pull in Mikheyev, Marchment and Engvall to be the checking Wingers in their lines.</div></div>

At least while Hyman is out, I think so, Babs loves him and AJ-AK-KK would be a killer third line.

Low cap problem
honestly the fact that the league doesn't already know what the cap is going to be less than a month heading into free agency just shows how ass backwards and bush league the NHL is.
They should have known that by mid season. I know one thing. if the cap is as low as 81,500,000, there are a lot of teams in trouble. And the only one to blame is the league office for not expressing this sooner.
