Pens Should Go After Chychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Unfortunately the Pens don't have the prospect quality to compete with the other teams involved.
That said, this is not so great. POJ is proving to be a legit top-four dman and is on an ELC. Dumoulin is the weak link, not POJ.</div></div>
I'm not as high on POJ as most people seem to be. I seriously doubt he will ever be a first-pairing guy and he's only a year and half younger than Chychrun who is a legit top-pair defenseman. Moving POJ and Smith (rather than this year's first) in order to get a legit top-4 D makes a ton of sense to me.

A Ray Shero in 2013 kind of deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>Sabres just keep Anderson and take Pittsburgh's wild card spot</div></div>
I'm picking the Sabers to make it, but they're taking the Caps spot not the Pens!!!

Fixing the 3rd line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Burnout</b></div><div>A pending UFA that they don't need.
And the only thing they're getting back that has real value for them is a 3rd. Much rather keep Dvorak.</div></div>
My thought was that Montreal's advantage here is moving on from Dvorak and getting a 3rd round pick. They're in tank mode, so getting Blueger isn't about replacing Dvorak, it's about gaining another trade piece in a player that will be much easier to move for another pick to teams who need to add another qualified penalty killer.

Fixing the 3rd line
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Big_Papa20</b></div><div>I think Dvorak has value, but for what it’s worth Dadanov doesn’t belong anywhere near an NHL top 6 at this point of his career</div></div>
I hear you. The thought is that he might be sparked by playing with Malkin and Zucker and it puts Rust on the 3rd line, so it spreads the forward talent out. Dadanov is only one season away from a 20 goal, 40 point season and was productive on the power play for Vegas.

I don't think Marino is a top 4 defenseman. Lol.

Depends on the trade. If they do business with the Canucks, maybe Schenn comes back the other way? Maybe a second trade can bring another RD in? You also have Friedman and Ruhwedel as right-handers on the back end.

Our Options
It will be interesting to see if news comes out about a Letang extension this week. If the Pens get him extended, that could signal a Marino trade, because I doubt they would consider moving Marino if they think they could lose Letang. Otherwise, Marino would be worth moving for the right price (i.e. J.T. Miller).

Tick tock
As much as I'd love Boeser or Miller coming to Pittsburgh with Pettersson and Kapanen going the other way, these Canucks fans are right. Vancouver has no use for a LD with OEL and Hughes already signed long term. It will take Marino to do business with them or a massive amount of picks and prospects.

Pens Eichel Reality
I think a more realistic package looks like Marino, Guentzel (OR Rust) or Kapanen), Zucker, Aston-Reese, and a prospect and/or pick.
Buffalo has said it wants four pieces in return for Eichel. If the Pens want to beat other teams with better prospects they'll have to offer up four quality pieces who can play now. Marino is likely a place to start as Buffalo has good young LD but no RD. One of 59/17/42 would absolutely be the next ask.

weak aging team with little excitement
Those contracts to Matheson, Pettersson, and Zucker have got to be moved. Thats what's anchoring down the team and keeping them from adding pieces that can give them a chance this season.
