Doughty a leaf ?
Ya but what if they don't win the cup? I'm from atlantic canada and i went up to see game three against Washington and man Nylander was the heart and soul of the team at times. He's good man and i don't like the idea of him leaving, even for Doughty
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingsGKG</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boucie_</b></div><div>Generalizations don't help anyone first of all. And yes Leafs fans don't want to give up young talent for an albeit SUPERSTAR entering his late twenties with only two years left on his deal. In three years when Doughty walks and Nylander is putting up 70-80 points a year how will the trade look then? Sure the Leafs will be better next year and the year after, but how much is Doughty join got decline and how much is Nylander going to improve. So again the answer to a trade like this is simply NO.</div></div>
Well, if you get a cup in the next two years, I would think it's worth it., and YES, I think Doughty is that big of a difference maker. It's not like the Leafs are rebuilding. they are are already rebuilt. Trades are a gamble man. Someone always wins and someone loses. I'd rather go for the kill sooner than later. Just my thoughts.</div></div>

I don't think its bold say hell put up 80 points at all. He put up 60 in his rookie season, and the very least would you say 70? If not i think you undervalue Nylander<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>grovercleveland</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>boucie_</b></div><div>Generalizations don't help anyone first of all. Elite defensemen dont decline in their late 20s early 30s and what stops toronto from resigning him? Pretty bold to say nylander will put up 80 points when like 8 guys in the league do</div></div>

Best of luck with that then. Patchwork defense always works out in Cup runs!</div></div>

Doughty to Toronto - Thoughts
putting the puck in the net isn't a problem now for the Leafs but why do you think that is? it's because of guys like Marner and Nylander, we can't shoot our self in the foot for a short term fix. Yes Doughty is AMAZING and yes he's in his prime but he only has 2 years left on his deal and his much older than the Leafs core<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>grovercleveland</b></div><div>
Hes one of the top 3 dmen in the league and hes still in his prime</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KingsGKG</b></div><div>I would think putting pucks into the net is the least of the Leafs problem. A HOF RHD right now might just be as valuable Marner and some guys that are a year or two away.
But that is always the quandry. We all value our guys more than the other guys. I get to see Drew 82 games a year. He is an absolute stud!</div></div>

I know this is a cardinal sin to say but i think doughty is a tad overrated. Id take Marner or Nylander over him any day. and I know you're gonna say "well you're never going to get an elite d man then." Well if it costs one of Marner, Matthews or Nylander I'd rather keep our patchwork defence<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>grovercleveland</b></div><div>Some of these same people make tanev or manson trades asking for sam reinhart. We want either Marner or Nylander
Kapenen or Rychel
Dermott or Nielsen
Then we can talk about a pick and conditional picks if Doughty signs with the leafs long term</div></div>

As a Leafs fan I say no to this trade. Marner is an elite talent who scored 60+ points in his rookie season and he's 20! Plus you want Kapanen, Nielsen and picks. The value just isn't their for me. Honestly I don't think i would even do sought for mariner straight or up or even if LA added picks. So the answer is no.

nashvilles not giving up two picks bud. nashvilles pick will be either 29 or 30, leafs are 17. It's a swap for higher picks. the reason they would do this deal is EXPANSION. they can only protect three defense someone has to go

There is no way I'd do that trade. Manson is overrated as ****. He's a defensively minded solid defensemen, with little offensive upside, he's worth a second round pick maybe. If you want a player like Manson look no further then our very own Martin Marincin, he's big, has good possession numbers and while mistake prone SO is Manson. IMO if you're looking to upgrade on defense there's far cheaper option out there then Manson who provide essentially the same. Cody Franson free agent has great defensive numbers, Brendan Smith free agent has great defensive numbers! Unless the price for Manson is way lower than it seems to be it's a hard pass for myself.

id prefer to go longer term with Nylander and give him a bit more money. And i think you have him a bit devalued here. Its seems the going rate for a RFA scoring winger is around 6 mil, where i think he should be.
