My apologies. If you read the description I was speaking about Markstrom. Made a mistake on the trade itself, it has been updated

Long, Hard, Realistic Rebuild. Read Description
As much as I think the Canucks need to trade the Sedins this year, they won't. Not just because they already said they aren't trading them, but because both of them, especially Daniel, aren't having great seasons. I think they'd be willing to take the risk of them playing worse next year, and hope they bounce back so they can be traded.[/quote]
That's why this is a two-sided argument. The sedins themselves have a role in this too. They are smart guys, I am sure they know that this team is not going far this year and next. What do they want? If they love Vancouver then you can't blame them for staying knowing they won't be winning a cup but if a cup is important to them then they have to be the ones to suggest it to JB. You gave them a NMC and u have to live by their wishes but they have to really have an introspective look at their legacy, is it about chasing a cup or staying in Vancouver?

It's a two sided argument here. The Sedins want to win but they love Vancouver, so they know that they will only get one of those 2. Even if they take a massive cut after next year they SHOULD not be in our future plans so do they retire or go play somewhere else after their contracts expire (more likely for MODO than another NHL team). Therefore do they accept a trade to a contender and give a go on the Stanley Cup for two years? Seems like Edler is staying until his contract is up because of his family so we will lose him for nothing so management has to make a decision as to realistically project the value of the Sedins this season vs the Sedins next season. You will get more now if you trade them compared to the possibility of them having a worse statistical season through the first half of next year and trying to unload them. Or we could always go the Hamhuis route and demand too much then lose him for nothing.

Question For Colorado Fans
I disagree. MacKinnon is a stud and 21. You don't know what a first round pick from the Canucks will give you. If people are projecting the top end of this draft to be nowhere near as good as the last two years is it really worth giving up an absolute #1C for the possibility of rebuilding a team with a number 3-4 D-man and let's say the #12, #43 and more picks for, I would say no. You can have a bit more of an argument for Duchene and Landy but I would demand a guy like tanev or even juolevi tho even he is unproven and the last eye test of him was WJC so it may not leave a good taste in their mouthes to make that deal either.

He has the ceiling of 1C and these don't have to be set in stone 1-4 lines just how I set it up

Duchene
So Duchene and a top 3 pick pick this year? I cannot see how Colorado could give that up. I don't care how down of a year Duchene is having you don't give up a top 3 pick for that offer.

Write this year off
Tell me, what role does nuge fill in vancouver? He isn't a #1C so that makes him a #2. We have horvat, H. Sedin and Sutter filling center and moving Sutter to the wing is a non-starter as he has shown his inability to play the wing. So let's give up tanev for that.

If only Edler would waive his NTC
He may waive even with a young family in Vancouver. The real question is would he waive it for St. Louis? Interesting trade proposal (zhukenov is in the QMJHL not OHL). I would make the trade tho.

Vancouver needs a #1 centre, not another #2, we already have 3 of them.
