I might consider adding Bogo but you would have to make it worth my time.

Sobodka has actually been a 2nd line RW this year soooooo

Told ya guys Dreger even said Botterill requesting hefty price for Risto
Risto might not be a lockdown defender but come playoff time he is what Buffalo wants.
He can be nasty and has no problem mixing it up with the league superstars.
He also has an offensive side to his game.
His current contract $ and term are very tempting to some teams.
all said, i think Risto for Ehlers would be a great trade for buffalo

My hot take on the Sabres and Botterill in description box
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I think hes more of a 3rd line center. If we had room i would do it, just to trade him at the deadline when playoff gms decide that they better get bigger for the playoffs. We are talking about bodies that we cant move that need to be moved out just to get a look at some kids. Plus we are close to the cap. Theres just no room right now</div></div>
My prediction is that soon you'll be moving Ristolainen, so there will be plenty of room.

My hot take on the Sabres and Botterill in description box
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>corsiagainst</b></div><div>Botterill has made some great moves, sure. He is also entering his 3rd season behind the helm; in a league where it has been proven it only takes 1-2 years to turn around a franchise.
How can you preach patience? His teams have finished 26th, 30th, 27th. The team hasn't made the playoffs in 8 years. As fans, we deserve better. "The process" and "patience" is team propaganda put out to make sure fans continue to buy into a franchise and spend their hard earned money on a team that has consistently over promised and under delivered.
What's wrong with wanting/ demanding more?
And lastly I'll say this...its not about what moves Botterill has made, its about the moves he hasn't made. Getting rid of players such as Girgensons, Okposo, Sobotka (who's actually on the 2nd line to start the year LOL) are simple moves that improve the makeup of the team simply by subtracting them. Bury them in the minors, ship them to Russia, I don't really care. The team did it with Moulson, and they should do it again.</div></div>
It's not a great time to want to dump 5 million dollar players for a 7th. And when they have multiple years like okposo, you are probably looking at either adding something pretty nice, or taking back an equally terrible contract and hoping you can make it work. One of the op's points was adding a second to okposo for the expansion draft. I don't think that flies. We probably have a name d that will be exposed, and after Mcphee took Vegas to the cup, nobody wants your warts for a second.

Could this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rootferdukes</b></div><div>Why does everyone on here think that Winnipeg wants to sell so low on Ehlers? He had a down year last year but was still a great driver of play at 5v5, and they have him for the next 6 years at a good value. I know they have to clear cap to resign Connor and Laine, but I doubt they'd move him for Ristolainen if he is the best player they're getting back.</div></div>
It is not that we expect WPG to sell low on Ehlers.... what we are looking at is that WPG has to sign a few players that will cost some serious coin..... in addition they lack RHD. WPG has just over 17 million of Cap space.... Laine & Connor will probably cost more than 17 million a year..... then they have to address RHD....... so.....

Again all favor him? The only bad stat he has is his turnovers? In GAR he ranked third on Buffalo only behind Skinner and Eichel? All of that done while anchoring Sheary,Sobotka and Okposo? So if anything they support my opinion. 30 pts is what you expect out of him

Year before legit contention NYR Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Spanky227</b></div><div>rangers won't accept it-- the 1st is nice but it's the only enticing piece here..
Risto and Shatty are almost an even swap as neither plays defense
Strome is much better that Zeggy
Andersson is much better than Malone
Like i said the 1st is nice, but I'd still rather have andersson and strome right now than a post 28 pick</div></div>
Risto is not even with Shattenkirk. If youre saying Risto doesnt play d, youve never watched him. Risto lead the team in blocked shots and hits (nearly double the next closest player). Housley got fired because nobody understood his defensive system. Risto (and the entire Sabres D) was victimized due to the forwards providing nearly 0 coverage in the defensive zone.

TBL really needs cap space. Clears 11 mil. Callahan is from Rochester. Might have Buffalo on trade list. Nelson is a good 3rd pair dman.

Trade with Tampa at Draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rush5154</b></div><div>People might want to look if the player being "moved" has a NTC...</div></div>
Players waive those all the time. They're out in place so he can't be moved to a team that he doesn't wanna be on. All Tampa has to say is "we're not playing you, so take a trade" and most players will. You also think he wouldn't wanna play with Eichel, Dahlin, Middlestadt and that core there? Buffalo might be a good choice for him to waive for actually

JT Miller is probably the guy on the way out, his NTC does not start until July 1.
Only issue I see here is that TBL will need DMen. They probably lose 3 of their top6.
Casey Nelson might be interesting to them. 800k cap hit bottom pair RHD that can play on 2nd pair in a pinch. Perhaps SJ1st Casey nelson and a 2 for JT Miller?

Marner just for fun
Not to be bummer but:
1. Toronto matches as Marnwr is getting 9.5 to 10.5 milluon
2. You have to give up a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd round pick in the next draft, so you can not sign him before the 2019 draft as you do not have a 2nd round pick, so you would have to sign him after the draft and give up 3 picks in the 2020 draft.

Trade deadline Vesey
make it a straight 3rd, no conditions and you're pretty close. He's a third liner on pace for close to 45 points. Bailey is an okay prospect and Beaulieu is a third pairing guy. and Vesey wouldn't be just a rental as he's under contract for next year too. you could probably up the pick to a 2nd actually and it'd be fair
