a honky tonk waive
Duchene is definitely getting more than that on the open market, probably close to 5M. Otherwise this all seems pretty reasonable to me

Ingram is the leader of the tandem, and they fell off hard once he went out for a long stretch last year. But like you say, they have veggie, I think they'd be willing to move that guy but even then it would take something of real value coming back

I don't think Utah would torpedo their season before it begins for the sake of that pile of mid you're giving them for Ingram

Youngsters
I think this is a pretty reasonable take. My only critique would be that Montour and Roy are underpaid by 500K-1M each, but even then you might be giving a bit too much to Lindholm so the cap might not be completely borked. Good post!

Mad Scientist
Even if the Habs took that deal (lmao not a chance, rebuilding teams don't trade top 5 picks, let alone for a 2nd line winger), Dickinson has no business playing in the NHL next year. very few players find success playing in the NHL in their D+1 season, even fewer of them are Defencemen. Sam Dickinson is a great prospect, but he isn't Rasmus Dahlin!

Kakko
Bad idea for the Habs. Kakko turns 24 next season and has completely stagnated. We can get someone younger and with more upside in our yearly young RFA acquisition.

Oilers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>fredmo</b></div><div>Jeannot is not bringing what they hoped for. But TBL gave up an entire draft class for him basically, so this trade would be really bad for the Lightning.
I like the Heinen and DeMelo signings, but I don't like the contracts. DeMelo is high on my list, if he signs for significantly less, $3,5-4mn. I also like the fourth line, but I'd like them to be around 600k cheaper in total.</div></div>
what you're describing is the sunk cost fallacy exactly. yeah they payed a lot but it has not worked out, and there's more to be gained by moving him that keeping him

He's been poor there even on the 4th line, and he's paid like a decent 3rd liner. They need the space pretty bad too.

The Habs wouldn't trade Savard for that return, for a 4th he's worth more to them as a minute eater and leader for the young D corps. Savard would cost at least a mid 2nd.

Back when Nash went to the Cup Finals is was all about D and goaltending, not flashy skilled forwards.</div></div>
under a different administration, sure. Now with Trotz as GM and Brunette as coach they're trying to prioritize offence a bit more.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Voice_Of_Thruth</b></div><div>That habs trade doesnt even come close. Leafs are trying to clear cap by trading mitch, they wont take an albatroz contract like Anderson.
Matheson is a nice piece but two 3rds and a 4th arent enought to sweeten the deal.
Id also say replace savard with Struble or Xhekaj</div></div>
Hardly an albatross if he's retained down to 2.7. He's much more of a Berube style player than a MSL style player, and being able to play 3rd line minutes under Berube would more than likely revitalize Anderson.
In any case, nobody is interested in this deal. Marner doesn't waive, Montreal isn't interested in a rental, and The leafs are probably hoping for someone with a bit more term than Matheson as the main piece coming back

It would be nice, but as other Habs fans in the threads have pointed out, Montreal simply wouldn't be interested

I keep seeing Jackets fans post Texier to Montreal, and I get that a lot of people shortcut to "Habs always trade for French guys" (not even true), but Texier isn't even the right kind of French

Armia is overpaid, not a cap dump. If Montreal is willing to retain (they will be at the deadline this upcoming season), they'll get a decent return for him.

Montreal fans who says no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jaok3</b></div><div>Why would the habs decline? They get the leafs 1st rounder and then they flip Marner at the TDL for another 1st rounder and 2 prospects. Marner double retention is only around 2.75M. So in the end they would give up Savard + 24 first rounder in exchange they get Tor 24-first rounder, 25-first rounder and 2 prospects.</div></div>
The 5th overall pick is worth more than anything they would get back for a Marner rental. This is all aside from the fact that Marner wouldn't waive to go to a rebuilding team anyway.
