The value is there, but Montreal isn't going to do either trade. Montreal should keep those prospect and use the 1st + 2nd round pick and hope to get a player similar to Gostisbehere. Keep one of their better defensive prospect + their best center in Laval.

Same with the second trade. We aren't trying to win now, so just keep Poehling and let him become our middle 6 Center. Shaw is a good mentor and will be key when we decide to win now. that 2nd round pick can be used to get another good prospect.

That's too much to give for Gosth
I'd like a similar package for Provorov though

I do understand your point about keeping our young assets, but we have to keep in mind that having a ton of first round picks and prospects isn't that great if you can't fit all of them in your roster at the end. Trading some of these kids (and picks) for a YOUNG high-end talents (like Provorov) who's already established in the league is smart. I'd rather have 5 or 6 top line players instead of 12 second/third liners in which many will not play on the PP like they should and/or play on a fourth line. I don't know if you see what I mean?...

I believe keeping those prospects are vital because you can't predict how they turn out. Maybe more than one of them become Elite players or maybe they all fail. In order to win in the NHL, you need to roll 4 lines (Reason a one line team like Colorado isn't dominating the league). Montreal is in a wildcard spot and we don't have a single superstar this year. I understand where you come from, but I don't think Montreal should risk it at this point. We don't need to win now, I would prefer we hold onto those pieces and see what they become.

But just keep in mind that a Provorov (22 yo) isn't only a win now thing
