I would be incredibly hesitant about bringing either Rattie or Chiasson back on one year deals, nevermind giving them term. Both have lost a lot of the production they saw alongside McDavid and Draisaitl, and both are beyond the age where there's still potential to bank on. They kind of are what they are. I'd be looking to give someone else the opportunity unless either of them starts clicking again. Pirri will probably come $1M cheaper than Chiasson, and hasn't ever had a fair crack at an NHL roster, I'd look into him.
One year isn't a huge risk for McElhinney, but I do believe there are stronger options on the market (Elliot, Kinkaid, possibly Mrazek). A lot of that though is my paranoia surrounding his age: goalies typically start to fade in the 30-32 age range, and while Curtis has done fantastically well to stave that off as a career backup, I'm not convinced that he can keep it up. He plays that early 2000s style of "flop" goaltender, and I don't think his body will be able to keep up with the act for much longer next season. My issue with McElhinney also stems from Koskinen: I am not convinced Koskinen is an NHL-calibre goaltender, and I would want to bring someone in that should expect to play 30+ games, but may need to be relied on for over 50. I think McElhinney could manage 20-some odd games, but not be "the guy" if everything went south in a hurry.
While I think Tampa strongly believes they can get more for Miller, I could see a similar package being used to bring in either Killorn or Johnson provided that Tampa Bay actually wins the cup this year. I think there's something on that TBL front, but which name it would be coming back is up in the air.
I can't see Ottawa taking offers on Pageau until next season unless the return is beyond what his actual value is. They might not be icing an NHL-calibre roster next season if Duchene, Stone, and Dzingel all bugger off for greener pastures. Spooner's perceived value around the league is supposedly lower than Brandon Manning's, so I don't know if there's any way out of that deal beyond burying him and riding it out.
Where are you taking Zegras, and is there a more pure winger available? I like what Zegras brings in his ability to either run as the USDP #2C or as Hughes' winger, but I really think Edmonton needs to be finding a purer finisher. A name like Matt Boldy intrigues me, or Kaliyev god forbid Edmonton picks outside of the top 10.
