Honestly, I love the idea. Makes a ton of sense. Although I think Nashville could actually try to sign whoever they acquire, and I don't think Panarin is staying there. Could see Duchene loving it there.

Jackets would not trade Panarin and lose the return on him. Tolvanen would not be a part of any trade. The Jackets would hang on to him. Furthermore, Ottawa should just trade Duchene for Panarin straight up and then deal him for a slew of prospects and picks. Makes more sense.

Yeah if they get Tolvanen they aren't trading him.

Duchene is the wrong person to trade for anyway. They got two 20 year old kids with talent at center who deserve a shot. This is a young team and let them stay that way. That youth and speed serves them well.
If they are going to trade with Ottawa I'd rather they get Stone.

Not that it matters, they have a hard time in FA and would have a hard time getting either to resign. They have to build up in the draft. Wish it wasn't that way for them, but it is.

If duchene is willing to agree to an extension in Columbus I could definitely see a trade like this happening. I think NSH would give up Tolvanen for Panarin. I also think Panarin playing the rest of the season in NSH would give them a real shot at resigning him in the offseason
