With a Marc Staal Buyout, It gives the Rangers a little bit more flexibility with a defensive logjam and gives the rangers the ability to protect other players when the SEA expansion draft comes around. I do not feel as though it would be smart for the Rangers to see the insane amount of cap space available and go on a crazy shopping spree... Panarin would be the only player on my radar. signing Panarin to a 7 yr 10M/yr deal would put the rangers in a difficult spot moving forward with signing some of their future superstars (hopefully). at the end of the day cap management is the most important part of the rebuild besides having as many "lottery tickets" as possible to restock the shelves with elite talent. I also did not include signing Kravtsov and Shestyorkin in this as I don't know what the status of those players is moving forward and with lundqvist/georgiev as the tandem I dont expect shesty to be playing with the rangers but getting used to NA and playing with the WP.
