doesn't mean that they wont be forced into a giving out a contract that they don't want to give out in terms of years and AAV because they have to match an offer sheet. He can be offer sheeted a deal that takes him straight to UFA status which I'm guessing that they would rather no have happen. Offer sheets don't happen very often because of this exact reason that teams dont want to then deal with the aftermath that comes after an offer sheet

Do you not think that if this was the case and they did offer sheet him, that there would be no consequences... just remember that zegras is also coming up for a new contract and payback is a mother....

who are you referring to?... nils lundqvist is a TOP tier D prospect, arguably in the top 20 in the league and is lighting it up in the AHL now... As for Kravtsov, he is lighting it up in the KHL right now 3 pts in 3 playoff games and is one of the leaders on that team.. the problem that the rangers had with him is that there was no spot for him in the top 6 and so he was sent to hartford to get top minutes and refused the assignment and used the clause in his contract to return to the KHL where he is more comfortable. So don't really understand the argument. Both players ARE top prospects and worthy of 1st round picks so kind of a bad argument.

Hmmmm... 3 1st round pick equivalents for a bottom 6 forward and a bottom pair defenseman that we dont need and a 3rd. Going to be a no from me dog....

most paid player on each team
It blows my mind that the bruins highest paid player is only getting paid 6.7M.... thats why they are so good. As a rangers fan im pretty envious of the fact that they can have these world class players for so cheep. that changes a little bit next year with McAvoy getting over 9M but still pretty impressive cap management.

I figured that scheifele is locked up on a very good deal so they would want to keep him around. They seem to be in a jam for next season with the cap and would potentially not be able to resign him unless they moved money out.

Gallant tends to play the top 9 pretty evenly and i dont think you would want to really disrupt what they have in the 2 first lines. He would be amazing to have with some of the talented players that we have in lineup and can slot into the lineup anywhere if needed.

far too early performance index
I would argue that Kakko has looked like one of the best players out on the ice for many of the games, especially during the preseason. He has looked so comfortable with the puck on his stick on the wall and its only a matter of time until the points start to pour in. The only other one that i would say that i somewhat disagree with is goodrow. He has been nearly invisible in my opinion. Everything else is spot on. well done!

Couldnt disagree with you more... when panarin took his leave of absence for a 1/4 of the season, strome continued to produce without panarin. In 11 games played without Panarin, he had 9 points for a points/games-played (P/GP) rate of 0.82. Do they have great chemistry, yes. This is a far cry from saying that he isnt a top 6 center. Statistically this is untrue.

Philadelphia Flyers signed Sean Couturier (8 Years / $7,750,000 AAV)
Im curious how this impacts the Zibinijad contract extension for the NYR. Zib has a slightly better pts/gm ratio but Cout is clearly the better defensive player. They are also the same age as well. This, along with the Nugent-Hopkins deal could be just what is needed to keep the contract within reason. As far as this contract is concerned, I think it is great for the FLyers for sure and certainly means that giroux will be making his way to free agency after this season after seeing his buddy JV leaving via trade this offseason.

(CBJ/PHI) - Atkinson for Voracek
I think CBJ wins this as they are getting out of the contract a year earlier and helps them get to the cap floor. They could even retain salary and flip him after next year and probably get some return on it.

Similar ppg player with buchnevich now being an extremely complete player playing in all situations including the pk where he excelled. If you look at his defensive metrics, he was one of the better defensive players in the league last year where as reinhart is not that kind of a player...

Question for fans of the New York Rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sensonfire</b></div><div>I find it interesting that you ignored the fact that the Sens paid the Rangers a high 2nd to make the Brassard/Zibanejad swap.
We have no interest in revisiting that trade idea.</div></div>
Oh I wasnt even worrying about that to be honest as I think the hockey trade in its self would be ok but I wanted to draw on the similarities of this idea and the zib/brass swap. The biggest difference is of course the contract differences as brass was signed for 4 more years where as strome has 1 year left, which is why I was saying the it would only be fair if the trade was made with strome having an extension in place prior to the trade. I think the value is pretty fair to be honest I think maybe a pick is exchanged to balance it out but it's not that far off.

Question for fans of the New York Rangers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Sabres923</b></div><div>Norris in the Strome trade package has a zero percent chance of happening.</div></div>
It's actually extremely similar to the trade I mentioned above. The rangers traded away brassard for, at the time, a pretty unproven zibinijad, who was even more of a proven commodity than Norris. They are similar in points before the trade happened with the edge going to strome in this case over brassard. Zib had been playing in the nhl for 3 seasons for the sens before coming over in that trade where norris only has 1 nhl season under his belt and is more unproven. You dont have to like the idea of it but there is a huge similarity between the 2 situations.

If he comes with an extension in place then I would say maybe a 1 for 1 swap for Norris. This would be similar to the zibinijad and stepan trade.

I think it could go either way... some players seem to want certainty with the flat cap while others are rolling the dice. Either way I dont think his cap hit would be much higher than that either way. His value is the highest it has ever been as of right now.

I just feel like the Minny trade is lackluster, to me it easily gets topped</div></div>
Lundqvist is going to be amazing... he put up better numbers than dahlin in the shl and is pretty well rounded as well. I wouldn't do this trade from a NYR perspective as he is on an ELC and will be great for 3 years on the cheap and would have to pay dahlin for comparable production. The rangers are set on D for the foreseeable future... need some upgrades through the middle. I like the value though, I think it favors the sabres a little bit but not that far off.
