Wild could take advantage of the cap space they'll have to make some deals with teams that will need to clear some cap space to re-sign players.

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. Callahan, Ryan
  2. 2019 3rd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Wild get a veteran leader for a year who can contribute on the 4th line and won't block the development of any of their players who need ice time.
TBL
  1. 2019 5th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Tampa clears up some much needed cap space.
2.
MIN
  1. Nylander, William
Additional Details:
Wild get a much needed right shot forward who can play center or wing.
TOR
  1. Spurgeon, Jared ($2,500,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Leafs get a much needed right shot in his prime who can play on their top pair at a discounted cap hit next year. This trade would likely rely on Spurgeon being extended.
3.
MIN
  1. Faulk, Justin
Additional Details:
Wild get a replacement for Spurgeon and deals from their excessive amount of left wings. The deal would rely on Faulk signing a contract extension.
CAR
  1. Zucker, Jason
Additional Details:
Carolina gets a replacement for Ferland and deals from their position of strength.
4.
MIN
  1. 2019 3rd round pick (EDM)
Additional Details:
Wild clear a roster spot for Belpedio to compete for a spot. If he struggles, they can go to Prosser like they always do.
FLA
  1. Pateryn, Greg
Additional Details:
Florida can be any team. I just picked them because their GM said addressing their defense will be a goal this off-season. A 3rd rounder for Pateryn might be too much, could be a 4th maybe?

You'll have to give up more for Nylander. Spurgeon is good but his contract is 1 one left after this year and is 29 even thought u retained 2.5 million. Nylander is 22 and yes he hasn't been the best since he's returned but he would've average around 62 points this year in an 82 game season and would only get better

The 1 year left part isn't really relevant, as I mentioned the deal would likely rely on Spurgeon signing an extension which obviously the Leafs would need to be comfortable with the cap hit and term since he's 29 and they're going to need to manage their cap to stay in the Cup contender conversation. This also relies on the Leafs needing to do SOMETHING next year to re-sign their players and address their defense so there's obviously a certain amount of desperation for Dubas needed to agree to this. If nothing else, the Wild toss in a draft pick to sweeten the pot a bit.

Even if he does what would he command because we would have to move players like brown and Zaitsev which I would do anyways but Mitch is likely asking for around 10 and Johnsson and Kapanen around 3+
