That Carolina trade is bad. The Kings would be trying to shed salary, not tie it up in Darling's bad contract.

that carter trade is awful he didnt have a good year but he also isnt bad enough to be 1 for 1 swapped with darling AND retaining salary

The Kings are a wealthy team compared to many in the league. Do they want to shed salary sure but everyone in the league knows they want to get rid of him. You get him out of town and bury Darlings contract since he'd be in the minors and could afford it. Now with better value in Carter, maybe not retaining a salary is an option and getting a pick back but otherwise what I've explained makes pragmatic sense
