Why would the Islanders trade Hickey for a guy who is more expensive and not as good? Not to mention that the last thing the Isles need is more left-handed defensemen.

Kulikov and hickey are equally as ****ty. Their career points per game are exactly the same. Hickey has no future in Long Island with Dobson, Aho, toews, pulock, Pelech, leddy and boychuck being their regular 7 dmen in a couple years. Kulikov has one year left or can be bought out. Winnipeg makes the trade to save cap space this year and instead of buying out Kulikov and having dead cap space they have a serviceable player.
