Friedman mentioned that the cap might not be as high as initially projected due to larger market teams getting knocked out early, so I decided to try and toy with Toronto's salary cap situation.

Notes:
Probably not winning most of these trades (maybe Caggiula) but it allows them to keep all 3 of Marner, Kapanen & Johnsson.

I don't know if trading Nylander is more or less plausible than finding a trade partner for Zaitzev, but those are the two players I am looking to move for cap space.

Defense is shaky, but they do have some young players than can fill bottom pairing voids as the season goes on. Maybe look to upgrade during the season, still tricky but there are worse Dcores in the league. Committing to offense first and then see where you can add.

Part of me does think that both Kapanen & Johnsson could make more, or even be offersheeted. but they are both bridge deals and so maybe that works out.

Marner could even make more in all honesty, but with how big he has seem to become in Toronto maybe he dedicates his contract long term similar to JT's contract.

It's okay if you think I am dead wrong on this, just a bored Penguins fan in the offseason :)
