Description
Modest proposals.

I think there is room for the Flyers and the Habs to do a deal for Ghost Bear but I feeling like the Habs might have to add a little - a pick, perhaps - to really even up the value there from what I've proposed. I feel like Tatar would be a great fit for the Flyers.

The reasoning behind the Duchene trade is that I feel that while the Habs are legit suitors for Duchene, they have to offer something a little more than other UFA suitors can get. I don't think CBJ can afford to give up another 1st by resigning him so the Habs give up a pick in order to give Duchene more than anyone else can on July 1. Obviously we would want to know Duchene would be interested in signing before making that move. But for CBJ it ensures they don't get zip if he walks.

What the heck is with all of these Habs threads getting you Ratcliffe? He's got 91 goals in the past two years in Guelph. There's really no reason for the Flyers to move him unless it's upgrading somewhere. Yeah, Tatar upgrades the offense a bit, but losing Ghost means they've lost a pretty significant Dman who's on a pretty great contract.

4 more years of Ghost @$4.5/year >>>>>>>>>> 2 Seasons of Tatar @$5.3. You'd be giving up Tartar+Fleury+something just to get Ghost, let alone also getting a top prospect to go along with him.

I got the impression from the other posts that Ratcliffe was movable and the Flyers needed to make room for prospects coming up so Ghost was moveable? I've seen other posts that suggested Drouin but Tatar seems like a better fit.

Ratcliffe may well be movable, but it doesn't make sense for them to move him just for the sake of giving him away.

I'm sure the Flyers would love to move MacDonald, but he'd be a dump. If they need room for Myers to come up, they could always fire MacDonald down to the AHL.

Moving Ghost? Maybe, but again, it's not like they have to move him just to move him.

Ghost is moveable for an upgrade Ie Trouba, Spurgeon etc.

Trading Ratcliffe now would be counting chickens before they hatch in regards to Farabee etc. Better to wait.

The Flyers top defensive prospects are all up currently. We have a few guys a few tiers down in the system but the top guys are already up.
