"Good Morning Cornelius". Are you calling CapFriendly participants the residents of "Planet of the Apes?"

I know this trade with Ranges has been making the rounds....It' s bit overpayment for the Leafs. If Marleau can be bought out, there are other suitors who will do it cheaper. Seems expensive one year of Harmonic . But surprisingly the cap works, And unlike most posts where the Leaf need to shed cap, it's about an equal amount of NHLer for NHLers so the Leaf wouldn't be much weaker in 2019/20. Leafs lose future assets, but for 2019/20, might be as good as the Leafs could be.

So, Rangers add roughly 10mil in cap and lose the chance of signing a big free agent that they are after? Everyone should stop making these Marleau trades as he is not going to get moved period.

Gee, I think the Rangers make that trade....but don't think the Leaf do. Sure the Rangers miss out on Panarin this year, bu they get Kapanen and a 1st. Next year they get an additional 8.5m in cap space with Marleau gone and Kreider's retention gone.

I admit I under value Hyman, mostly because I don't think he is good as his stats show. Yes he is a 20g scorer but 6 are empty nets. He does bring a physical element and plays well with better players generating open ice and puck retrieval. But I still don't think it is an over payment. He would slot in nicely with Gaudreau I think on that line.

I'm not nearly in the Nylander "camp" as other folks. Many think 21 goal scorer Hyman has hands of stone, but Nylander in his two Matthews line seasons has 22 and 20 goal, admitting his assists are about 20 higher than Hyman. But while Hyman scored empty netters and played the PK, he never played the PP which Nylander did.
