Unable to net a desired top six forward for him, Lou trades Leddy to Montreal for the 15th overall selection as well as getting back into the 4th round of the draft

With Lehner in the fold and determined to bring Sorokin over after the season, Lou sells high on Greiss, who is coming off a shared Jennings award season. In a somewhat surprising development Lou also takes back Brodie and his final year in the deal as Calgary faces a cap crunch. The two teams also switch draft picks as NY gets back their 4th rounder and the Flames get their second round selection back. Lou taking on another blue liner is revealed later

In a modest deal, Lou sends Hickey to Edmonton to shore up their blue line depth along with a 4th rounder and get their original 3rd round pick back in return

Lou trades a fourth round pick for the 4th time, sending it to the Senators along with two prospects for one of Ottawa's three 2nd rounders next season. They also ask them to take the contract of Komarov whom they were likely going to buyout. The key prospect in the deal is Dal Colle, who rejoins his old coach that some him blossom as a youngster

With an offer sheet in hand, Lou brings the Leafs to the table for a deal involving Kapanen. Toronto rejects a Mayfield offer and insist on the recently acquired Brodie, who they immediately extend. For cap purposes they reluctantly include Nylander after the Islanders are rejected when asking about Kadri. To finalize the deal, NY sends two high draft picks and Ho-Sang, who follows Tavares with a change of scenery and trip home
