Description
How did they get here? In only two short years Vegas is already in cap trouble. Their surprise first season pushed them to ship out some of their youth for high priced UFA's and lock up some of their originally under appreciated players to long term higher cost contracts. The good news is that they are a solid team and can move out some players for picks/prospects and cap relief as there are no truly terrible contracts, but they will have to work hard to get their cap situation under control while they look to make long playoff runs in the next few seasons.

RFA's
Karlsson - Signs long term with the club that gave him a chance as a top 6 player for a small discount at 6 x 6.25M
Nosek - Extended for 2 x 1.25M
Subban - Extended for 2 x 1M
Hyka - Signs in KHL
Schuldt - Signs for 2 years at $1.125M
Gusev - There is unfortunately no room for him given the cap situation. Vegas sends him out east to Washington where he signs for 2 years at $4M (similar %cap to when Panarin came to the NHL).

UFA's
Engelland - Hometown guy brought back for one last run at $1.5M to mentor the younger defenders coming up (Whitecloud, Schultd).
Bellamare - Signs elsewhere. Vegas can't afford to bring him back and doesn't really need to.
Carpenter - Let go, Vegas chooses to offer Pirri a deal instead of him.
Pirri - signs a 2 x $1.25M deal on a contending team instead of chasing opportunity on a bottom feeder.
Carr - leaves for a team with less players ahead of him.

Trades
Priority for Vegas will be moving out players for cap relief and getting the best return that they can. Most of the guys they are looking at moving are good players on good contracts for what they bring so should return good value from other organizations despite them knowing Vegas is up against the cap. I have chosen to move out #3D (Miller) and #3C (Eakin) with the expectation that the rest of the D can pickup the slack and that Glass makes the team next year. Vegas has amassed a war chest of picks in 2019 and likely uses them to move up a few times at the draft to get the players their scouts want. Alternatively, they can move them for picks in future years to teams if there is no player available they really like when their time to choose comes up.

Additional Details:
Vegas is forced to move Holden to find some cap space.
DAL
  1. Holden, Nick
Additional Details:
Dallas gets a RD better than the guys they played in the playoffs (Polak, Lovejoy) for the low cost of a mid-late round pick.
2.
VGK
  1. 2019 2nd round pick (CGY)
Additional Details:
Eakin is a cap casualty and is sent to NYI for a draft choice.
NYI
  1. Eakin, Cody
Additional Details:
Replace Filppula taking advantage of Vegas' cap crunch to pick up a great #3C for their team.
3.
VGK
  1. 2019 1st round pick (WSH)
  2. 2020 5th round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
Vegas picks up a first rounder for Gusev who they unfortunately can't fit within their cap structure. They move on from Zykov for a fifth as he hasn't been able to translate a good AHL game to the big leagues.
WSH
  1. Gusev, Nikita
  2. Zykov, Valentin
Additional Details:
Washington likes Gusev more than anyone available in the late first round and see him becoming a star like Panarin did when he came over from the KHL. They also add to their contingent of Russians picking up Zykov who they will give an opportunity to play in their NHL lineup after likely losing Hagelin, Connolly, and DSP as UFA's.
4.
VGK
  1. Stephens, Mitchell
  2. 2020 3rd round pick (TBL)
Additional Details:
Vegas picks up slightly less that the return was for Muzzin (which was a good AHL player, a late first, and an unsigned prospect for a #3 defender). They get a good player who had a down year in the AHL but is poised to make the jump and a third next year.
TBL
  1. Miller, Colin
Additional Details:
Tampa gets a great second pairing RD on a good contract for the next three cup runs.

I would make one of those first-rounders a 2020 pick (as well as both fifth-rounders).

I think your entire strategy is well thought out. Very impressive.

Over evaluating Miller
Under evaluating Eakin
And Vegas is not trading Gusev

All RFA's listed you are over paying except for Wild Bill.
Both your UFA's you are also over paying.
Gusev will sign for around 3.5m
Nosek is not worth more than 1m
And Schuldt is pegged at 900k
Pirri is going somewhere else and if Engelland comes back for 1 yr he will have to take a reduced role at no more than 1m

They have tones of options, they can also move either Haula or Reeves out

Hard no from Tampa.

I based it off the return for Muzzin, who is slightly better than Miller but comparable and Miller's contract is for one additional year. I can revise to omit the unsigned D prospect, change to Verhaeghe to Stephens and reduce the picks to a second next year + a fourth. Do you think that gets it done from Tampa's perspective?
