I think it would be better to buy out Kris Russell at $916k then have to deal Caleb Jones in order to dump him

Agreed. Vegas would likely listen to dealing the Oilers Karlsson and Miller, but not Gusev and Huala. Maybe rework the deal as Karlsson and Miller for a prospect, a 1st, and a 2nd.

They won't trade Wild Bill 200ft 1st line centers don't grow on trees. They are in a win now mode, they won't trade any of their top 6, they can find lots of areas to dump salary to get under the cap.
