Not sure BM is the type to throw 8M at an RFA. In fact, one of BM's strengths is keeping RFAs on low contracts. Although the deal looks good on the surface, signing Meier to a big contact like that sets a bad precedent that could come back to bite us later down the line.

I agree, adding Meier would be amazing. I just think the repercussions of giving him such large contract could be huge. I also think that SJ just matches it and lets Nyquist and Pavs walk.

Anyway, regardless of whether ANA is involved (I very much doubt it), I would love to see 1 or 2 offersheets thrown out this year. It's time for these teams that gave stupid contracts to UFAs to suffer the consequences. I am looking at you LV and TOR.
