Description
Trade Explanation:

It's obvious why Edmonton would be interested in that trade -- they're trading the #7/8 Defenseman from a bad Defense for the #6 Defenseman on a SCF Defense -- but I can understand if you don't think there's any motivation from San Jose's end. I think the Sharks would go for this trade because it saves them money over 4 critical salary Cap seasons (800k for the next two, then 3.2M for the two after that), and because reuniting Mark Fayne with Pete DeBoer could make him a top 4 Defenseman again. Additionally, Fayne played his best hockey while paired with Andy Greene, who is roughly a poor man's Marc-Eduard Vlasic; I think Fayne would flourish under DeBoer and paired with Vlasic, which would allow the Sharks to partner Braun with the inexperienced Defensemen and take some PK burden off of the top Defensemen.

Even if Fayne continued to suck, it wouldn't be the end of the world. He'd still be costing 800k less than Dillon (who isn't exactly amazing, either), and his contract would expire soon enough to free up space for Jones and Vlasic's new deals.

I get your logic but why would you break up Vlasic-Braun? They were phenomenal together, one of the best shutdown d-pairs in the league. There is literally no good reason to break them up.

I doubt edmonton does this. They have a decent and full left side with klefbom, sekera, Davidson and so on. I don't know if Dillon would play ahead of any of those guys.
