I don't want to trade Nylander, but they have to balance out their roster better and the Leafs were on a good roll last year until Nylander came back.

Once Nylander's bonus is paid, he has a lot more value. Zaitsev gets a $3m bonus July 1st as well and then he is likely gone.

Marner deal is based on they can't afford a 8 year term and they don't want a 5 year term so Matthews and Marner both UFA same year. Pierre Lebrun recently mentioned this contract as a thought but just his opinion.

Brown may stay, but if they move him, I think you have to add someone who can play the PK and has some size. I believe Tanev is an upgrade since he is 6 foot and plays a tougher game. Perfect 3rd line player, needs more $$$ then Brown. Babcock likes Mikheyev, so slotted him in on the 3rd line.

Hutchinson signing is an indication that he could be the backup, but they may still go out and find a better backup and should so added Curtis (may have to go as high $2m after Flyers gave it to Elliott). Sparks may be traded but just put him in the minors.

By trading Nylander you get D help and you can fill out your roster better. Tanev and Marchment add some toughness but they can play as well.
