Trade would provide Vegas with $2.2M in cap space, which they definitely need.

I know it's super unlikely because it would look really bad for Vegas (giving up Suzuki and a 2nd round pick for nothing). It would also be strange for the habs to bring back their ex captain, especially when it seemed like Pacioretty and Bergevin left each other on bad terms.

Well he only has a 10 team no trade list. Its possible MTL isn't on that list because why would he think MTL would want to get him back? I know the trade is not likely from either team's perspective.. but what Pacioretty "agrees to" probably isn't really relevant here.

Edit:
Also, when Pacioretty wanted out of MTL the team was in a pretty sad state (led by the captain himself). His perspective would be quite different now I'm sure, he would have either Domi, Poehling, or KK for options at C... before he had Danault and Desharnais. I know this isn't happening, but it is a funny thought.

1. Why doesn't Tatar have anywhere near the value of Pacioretty? After a 34 point season, he was literally traded for Pacioretty with Suzuki and a 2nd round pick. After this past season, Tatar put up pretty much identical stats at $2.2M less, which is the main factor because Vegas needs cap space. Tatar's stock has risen, Pacioretty's has fallen. Tatar was also once traded for a 1st, 2nd, and a 3rd round pick.

2. Never said he was, in fact I literally said there are reasons for each team to NOT do this trade in the description. Read the description next time before telling me what I already know.

You clearly didn't know that he wasn't or you wouldn't recommend such a stupid idea

Oh and for the record, it hasn't been a year since the trade, so since Vegas Retained on Tatar, he can't go back. Next time come up with something that works <3
