Detroit is NOT trading Mantha and why would we take 4 years of $750K less compared to Backes' 2 years?? Your trade isn't much better than the one suggested in your description

Abdelkader is worse and signed for longer, trading him straight up for Backes is a slight win for Detroit as every Red Wings fan in that thread said they would do it.
