Description
Trade 1 - Backup Goalie swap with STL gives them a more competent replacement for Elliot. - Trade 2 - Carolina is near the cap floor and lacks RH winger depth. CAR also needs players under contract with salary to leave unprotected during the expansion draft. - Trade 3 - Toronto sends TBL some compensation for losing out on Stamkos. Stamkos gets his 8 year deal with a lower AAV but ends up getting an extra 3.5 million a year from the "marketing" budget. Still some money left over for a defenseman.

        Toronto cant offer stampkos an 8 year deal only tampa can. CBA only allows Tampa the right to sign him for 8 years all other teams can only offer a max term of 7 years

        Perhaps you are right, trying to win the west with Anders Nilsson (career 3.09 GA & .900 SV) as the backup makes much more sense.

        Could you share with everyone the section in the CBA that states only TB can sign players to 8 year contracts? Maybe you missed the trade ...
