Description
Edmonton is going to lose Jesse, period. Appleton is a good prospect who has shown that he should be able to play in the NHL this year, he was simply held back to to depth on the Jets roster last season. The return for Edmonton should yield a young prospect who is able to play, and 1 to 2 picks at most. The attached pick of a second rounder here may seem high, but Edmonton will be stubborn. Ideally, the second rounder is actually a third, it will also depend on the interest in Jesse from the rest of the market. You can argue all you want, but either way he is not going to be an Oiler next season, and most teams will not be willing to part with a younger prospect who can be a roster player, as well as picks. Under a team who can develop players properly, Jesse should turn out just fine. Fair gamble in my opinion. Note; I only exemplified what a trade may look like for Jesse, I have not (for this example) considered an offer sheet.

Honka will be harder to acquire, maybe not so much from value going to Dallas, but the fact that the Jets and Dallas share the same division. There will always be hesitation in regards to trades within your own division. All being said, it should not cause too much of a stir to send a second and a sixth rounder next season. You could even add a condition that the 6th becomes a 5th or 4th if Honka plays more than a certain amount of games.

We know the Jets can draft, so not having a second rounder for two years is not the end of the world. We also have pieces that are desirable if need be and we want to stock up.

Buyout Kilikov, simply makes sense across the board.

Morrissey can be signed by moving one of our higher paid pieces such as Perreault or Little, which will be likely regardless.
Just fooling around, if you don't like it well just move on down to the next thread. Thanks!

WPG overpays on both deals. Appleton alone is a good return for Pulju and you should get Honka for a 4th.

I like both ideas! probably could get honka for a 3rd and the pulu is probably what I’d pay aswell maybe try to push for a 3rd rounds to start.. but as a fan of both jets and oilers I like that deal.

I do think both prices are a bit high. Based on value alone Appleton is equal if not above Pulju, but Edmonton seems to be seeking more as they are obviously holding sentimental value for him.

In regards to Honka yes it is as well, but as I said in the description Dallas would be less likely to do a deal with a team in their division, so a minor over payment would probably be required.

Thanks for the input!

Based off of value, no you would not. For Dallas it will come down to "will this come back to bite us", so they would probably want more from the Jets.
