But while we're out on limbs, if the Devils still somehow fall apart this year, and signing Hall looks impossible, and your biggest need turns out to be in goal, I wonder which is more valuable of Holtby vs Hall? Obviously you'd balance rosters by throwing in some inexpensive forward and goalie trade, the other way. NJ could easily afford to sign Holtby to a Bobrovsky contract, and consider goaltending solved for the foreseeable future. Washington might have trouble extending Hall at the same price point, without making other trades to clear cap space, but even as a rental, it would be pretty cool to have two MVPs at left wing.
