Description
The loss of Morgan Reilly puts the Leafs in a tough position for the balance of the regular season, especially on the PP. This deal gives the Leafs a group of solid veterans -- two good scorers, a dominant grinder, and a serviceable LD -- for a piece of the Leafs' long-term future.

Looked at differently and with getting a Stanley Cup in Canada in the next 2 years in mind:
Petry = Liljegren and a 2nd
Tatar = Kapanen
Thompson = Gauthier

And Toronto saves $1M by dumping the remainder of the Horton contract, leaving room at the TDL for more.

Please invite us to the Stanley Cup parade.

Buffalo gets a serviceable C/LW and opens up nearly $4M in cap space to perhaps make another deal.

The only guy of those offered Toronto would want is Petry, but I doubt the leafs trade Liljegren for him. How do the leafs save money by trading Horton?

Don't see Montreal helping out Toronto. Would rather get atleast 2 first round picks for Tatar and Petry and then some. Let Toronto overpay on a defender.

Also, Bogosian wouldn't even make the team, no point in trading a 13th forward and a decent pick for him.

to be fair Tatar is legit. Not a great defensive player, but most teams could find a spot for him

Tatar IS a great defensive player. That's what makes him so good.

you might be right about the d maybe im missing something.

Either way Tatar is a player that any team could use if they have the cap space.
