Rangers land Athanasiou

Hear me out. This probably won’t happen, but this would be an excellent trade for both sides. 1 reason is because of the goalie situation. Howard is on a decline and Bernier is not the worthy goalie for being the starter. The wings take a chance on a young goaltender who can have the potential to be a team carrier. Athanasiou is underperforming and a change of scenery is clearly needed. This will make sense since Kreider will most likely walk to free agency, taking his spot. The second line will be AA, Strome, and Buchnevich/Kakko. This top 6 will be very fast and deadly come 1-2 years depending on how Kakko will develop. Hopefully he has a great sophomore year like Andrei Svechnikov has had. I don’t get the chance to watch either team that much, so don’t call me a clown or anything.
